2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

Being as we are wishing out loud, I would like to see a serpentine jack-knife similar to the old Schrade Wrangler 93OT - with a turkish clip and a sheepfoot blade. OH

Yes, that's the model number OH:D I had the right knife with the wrong model number:o

Love the idea of an Elephant Toenail. Sad that GEC only has the Sunfish. And yes, to answer the question, RR makes an ET in several different scales. I'd always wanted to try one out and did with a RR in amber bone. Love the pattern now. Only slightly a little heavy, but the wide, flat body spreads the weight in the pocket. Easy to carry in a watch pocket and that big blade just cuts. The wide, flat frame makes the knife very easy to hang onto and to handle. Pretty amazing handling, carry, and cutting qualities from a knife that looks like it shouldn't be as handy and easy to tote.

So yeah, an Elephant Toenail in D2 or 154CM (or 440C) would be sweet and GEC could correct that little issue of having Sunfish, but no ET frames.

Also a single blade Grandaddy Barlow in a Wharncliffe blade would be interesting and a bit larger.

Or a third choice for the large knife crowd. A Folding Hunter. I've never been a big Buck 110/UH LB7 fan though I carried one for awhile when I was younger. But the Folding Hunter is one that I love both the look and the feel of.

Then again, I don't see there's ever been a Marlin Spike done either.

I'd like something small, watch pocket sized. A Peanut would be most excellent.

Of those suggested, I think a swayback would be one of the more practical, but still different, options.

I REALLY like the idea of the marlin spike. I've been trying to find a decent one for years, but the market is flooded with less than quality examples. This would be perfect in stainless.

Really though, I'm OK with anything - as long as it's not a peanut!

I'd be up for another #85 EO, since I don't have a 2011 and want one, but I'm guessing repeating a similar pattern is not likely to happen. So since I've been on a 25 kick lately, I would vote for a 25 Barlow, single bladed sheepsfoot or wharncliffe. Otherwise I think a 47 or a 15EO sheepsfoot would get a lot of takers...

Understanding that this might be premature...I'll throw my support behind a peanut! It's the knife that brought me to this forum, and one of the true patterns that support never wains. If one came our way in say 440c and ebony, so be it

I would think of a 4 blades congress with Turkish clip and wharencliffe as main and coping and pen as secondary all in 3.5" to 3 5/8" slim curved body with rounded bolsters.
:cool::mask:

Something with good oak or smooth bone scales; single blade; springs that won't break a nail; a good lock blade 3" or shorter could work; perhaps a sheath. GEC or Buck Custom Shop would both work.

Some of us still waiting for THIS year's forum knife! How about letting this year's team bask in glory for a while?

They already are, in three other threads; don't forget your sun screen while you're there.;)

Oops sorry
I meant
Yea peanut.

I would love doing it with GEC again. Perhaps in 440C this time? ;) I wouldn't even mind doing one of their regular patterns. But I would love it even more if it was in a material not normally available or if it had a blade configuration that was unique. :)

I think a medium sized 2 blade coke-bottle Jack would be "swell." LOL Something like an upsized Pemberton, not quite as big as a swell center hunter but not as tiny as the Pembie. Long pull clip as main with maybe a caplifter/coping secondary. A coke-bottle for opening coke bottles. For cover materials... Dead Skunk?

Maybe in Root Beer acrylic. :D I actually really like this idea! Of course I would prefer 440C, but...:p

TC Charlow with Sheepfoot and caplifter/screwdriver. There will never be an "official" one made, but maybe the Forum knife could have this combination.

Or, the 93OT looks great, too.

Here's an idea: what about an improved "Scout" design? You could do it on the (large) #54 frame, have spear point main blade, and use the tools that GEC already has used on previous knives, like the saw and the cap lifter. Or if the frame isn't the right size, pare it down to the frame that best fits the tools. Then use whatever handle scales everyone wants. They did a bright red micarta that would look great. And of course, 440C.

Quote from Alnamvet68:
"OK, here's my input, a Sod Buster Jr with a single bolster, full size "bird's eye" pivot, either in ebony wood scales, or in Tru Ivory (best faux elephant ivory on planet earth), or giraffe bone from the upper thigh (looks, feels, and ages like the real deal...ivory that is)"

Quote from N.E.Tim:
"The dust has hardly settled from this last one, that being said, I would buy Alnamvet68's knife idea in a heartbeat.
That would be a beautiful folder."

same here! (quotes failed me. Computers R hard :D )
