2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

That Erickson is certainly a nice-looking knife

Personally, while I'd be OK with a fixed-blade, I'd much prefer a folder, and those are all good points Barry

Whatever he decides, I'm confident that Charlie will not fail us! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Charlie could pretty much sharpen a stick and scribble Bladeforums 2015 on it and I'd buy it lol.

Please take this with the caution and respect that it's written with.

This comment somewhat scares me, and should be taken with caution; even though it is very tongue in cheek, because it's true. A lot of times in this thread a comment of "whatever Charlie picks I'll buy" or "Just let Charlie pick" comes up. A couple of caution posts thrown in as well. But as far as Ive been part of the forum knife and from what I've understood, it's always been about what the community chooses. And it should always be striven to be a community knife, especially to help take stress of the knife off of Charlie's shoulders. Not the choice of one. And of course choice should always be a part of it in my opinion, as in past years some have requested that one "buys into" a voting place for the knife where if you vote you say you will buy. That isn't fair to those who just don't like the choice. I've bowed out in the past with no hurt or worry when the knife went against my collection (cap lifted, moose, barlow) or wallet (trapper Jack), and had no worries when others dropped out last year or the year before when the knife didn't suit their needs.

Charlie has said that this thread will help drive what he brings to the manufacturers and I have full trust that whatever comes about from our dreams, Charlie's slipjoint acumen, and the realities of the manufacturers that the community will get a great knife regardless!! I thank everybody involved, from each poster here to the janitor at the factory for helping this dream each year! This truly is an undertaking greater than I know, so I want to make sure appreciation is ensured.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall as Charlie goes to up to Bill Howard, rolls his eyes, and says "okay, this is what these yahoos want- a Damascus and unicorn horn scout knife with......
Or a peanut with a cap lifter big enough to work in mammoth
Or this one guy won't shut up about having a knife with a punch, either peanut/magnum/Norfolk or a three bladed Eureka with punch..... In I don't know, say full sized AAA black lip mother of pearl...... ;)

Oh YA- they want it all under $100... Prototype ready next Monday- fully working and full scale in materials of course, ready to ship out by July, and they want to place orders until June 29th.

(Big sigh...)

So...... This is what I propose (hushed whispers that the fly cannot discern)- okay sounds good!! I think that will work well, I'll show them what you are proposing!!"

And on to the next vendor to do it all again!!

Again, I tried to say all of this with respect and a bit of tongue in cheek myself, but I hope this thread always stays a light hearted fun dream that never takes focus off of the community and never places too much stress on a few individuals who take the reigns for the rest of us!! I wait with patient excitement for what choices we are presented with!! The choices here are wide and varied, and I did very much enjoy last years selection process, and although my choice did not win I love the one that I bought off of the forums votes!! And who knows, the companies may give up different patterns each, or a choice of similar patterns, I'm even excited to find out that aspect!

But I don't know how I'll choose between the PunchNut or the Eureka Punch Whittler when the time comes.......

Point taken and I don't disagree. :) What I said was definitely all in light hearted fun but wasn't remotely helpful to the topic at hand. I still haven't given up on the Canal Street made Sharpfinger and folder gift box set idea though! That post was not a joke at all!

Here's what I'd like to see this year, and I'll probably commission one. Or we can wait until Case/Bose do the pattern, but then for that kind of money a custom isn't out of line.

Lordy!
that's pretty.

Is it me or a watch pockets on jeans much smaller nowadays? How about something in the 3.25-inch range? I also like the idea of smooth, undyed bone.

It's definitely not just you and I've noticed some brands are better than others when it comes to the watch pocket size. My wife thinks I'm crazy but I've actually not bought jeans before because the watch pocket was worthless. She gave me the weirdest look like she was trying to decide if I was messing with her or not lol.

I'd like to see a saddlehorn with a Spearpoint blade... Literally. I've never seen one. I'll second smooth bone or natural canvas micarta.

That Erickson is a stunning knife, I would be all over that!
With that being said, I am confident in Charlie and his abilities. For proof, just take a look at what he pulled off last year:thumbup:
