2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

As long as a punch is included, I support this choice!! (And understand clips over wharncliffes, I'm okay with that choice!!) :)
I could live with a wharncliffe but spears turn me off, they are just bland looking IMO.:barf:
I'll take the versatility of a splinter pickin' tip and good cutting edge over a plain jane spear anyday.

No offense to the spear likers out there,to each their own after all.:)

I guess it's way too late to advocate the "give the 2014 crew some rest" thing..........so let's play the brainstorming game :D
A fixed blade might be a nice change for sure...but my vote goes for a medium sized (3,5") equal end/cigar frame with a clip/sheepsfoot jack configuration, or a single bladed zulu spear in a similar size.

Fausto

#15 EO sheepfoot Beerlow with Sunbrite acrylic scales and a special stamped bolster...NOT to be confused with the esteemed Charlow. And a commemorative beer from a microbrewery with a name like "Six Stitches Stout," or "Broken Blade Porter," or "Cut Away IPA."

I'm definitely cool with a punch/awl. Much more useful than a pen blade, in my use.

Certain fixed blades would be interesting as well.

Stainless.... Stainless.... Stainless....

You know, there are actually some micro brews and wineries up Titusville way. It's mostly a fantasy/nice idea rather than feasible, I'd think, but I'll be 21 for next year so I'm in!

(I know everybody seems to prefer the sheepfoot, but I'd definitely rather see a clip beside the caplifter)

As with every year I vote for a large 4 blade congress. Last years was a fantastic knife but it`s still not a full blown congress.

I'm another for the peanut, I'd love to see a peanut in GEC's antique yellow bone with 1095 blades. Close second would be. Some kind of razor pattern, possibly a Barlow? And third would be an EO sheepsfoot!

You forgot a few. It should be a Sheepsfoot Beerlow Peanut with a punch with a stainless 1095 blade and stag covers.

I'll order ten of those!!

Is it a stainless:1095 San Mai or pattern welded blade.....

Who said the decision process was difficult!

If we're playing with house money...

3" Carbon steel drop point lockback, 3 5/8" squared frame, ebony scales, brass pins/liners, nickel silver bolsters. :D

How about a peanut with a Barlow bolster, a sheepfoot blade in 1095 and a stainless clip blade, with one side handled in stag and acrylic on the reverse. ;)

Why go normal, when the forum knife has always seemed to be the prime place for a return of a classic pattern not often seen, or a take on a pattern.

I've got to agree with the above. Everybody's got a favorite pattern, but the point is not to just make a knife that can be readily had in a special version, but to make a special knife that can be more readily had. Look at the knives now available from manufacturers that were not in production until this forum showed there was a market for them. Canal Street made multiple runs of Ring Knives and Canoe Whittlers (Canitlers), GEC brought out the Barlow (and a whole lot of others started them back up) and the 73's. Take a look and see who was making an EO before this forum provided incentive.

I can buy a Sodbuster for $10. I can't find an EO Caplifter for any kind of money. Yes, it's easier and cheaper to go with something that already exists, but really, why bother?

Here's a small sampling of knives I'd like to think we could do for the forum; they're beautiful, useful, patterns that are not currently made and impossible to find. One's a old discontinued pattern, one's a "made-up" pattern, and one's a custom. Think about what it would be like to actually be able to buy one of these new; isn't that a goal worth reaching for?
