2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

There are lots of ideas presented here that I like such as the Peanut, Charlow, 77 Barlow, Stockman, Bullnose, Sway Back and Serpentine Jack. I would be happy with most any of them but here is something I would love to see made.

A GEC Northfield #79 sleeveboard frame with a primary long pull sheepsfoot and secondary cap lifter in Appaloosa or primitive bone. The Northwood Fremont Jack, one of my favorites, has been very popular and is based upon this same frame with a single modified sheepsfoot. I've been carrying a Northfield Workhorse frequently as of late and feel that the 79 one of the more underappreciated patterns in the GEC lineup outside the success of the Fremont Jack.

I really like this idea. Polished stag like the Washington jack would be nice also.

Thanks Sean. That polished stag really turned out nice and I'd like to see more done with that as well.

I'd like to see a small knife with 2 stainless blades. The GEC Pemberton (06), Conductor (33), & Calf Roper Slim (66) are all great patterns. My choice would be a #66 with muskrat clip main & coping secondary. A Pemberton with 2 large blades, clip & wharncliffe, would be cool too.

+1. Does the design have to be based on an existing frame to keep costs down?

My preference would be a hawkbill or sheepsfoot in that order, paired with something different like maybe a barlow, swayback or even a toenail just to mix things up a bit. Keeps costs down while having the opportunity for something a little less ordinary.

Imagine a Blade Forum Sod Buster Jr in ebony like this...

....with a bolster like this...

I was dreaming about a Barlow, something the size of a Madison Barlow, but with a single spear or Zulu spear blade. Then I saw Alnamvet68's idea. That would be sweet.

Don't know if anyone has offered this pattern up for consideration, a Great eastern Cutlery #12 Toothpick. It's a bigger knife and also an elegant pattern by my standards. I think a 2 blade version would be more better.

The punch idea is getting me excited. I would trade out most of my secondary blades for a punch/awl if I could.
Maybe a Pemberton or 62 EP half congress with wharncliffe master and punch secondary?
This thread could be long by the time the knife is born huh.

If I had the funds for an SFO, this would be where I go!! A punch is great for non cutting tasks that most of us do weither we admit it here or not! And with a small knife a secondary cutting edge really doesn't add too much versatility in my mind. Just remember to push a PunchNut or PemberPunch to all of your friends! Or a conductor Whittler with Wharncliffe main, clip secondary and punch third!!

Or a nice Eureka Cattle knife. Recently enthralled with this little gem, adding the punch- beautiful!! Plus I've never seen this pattern in real life, just in LG3.

Why go normal, when the forum knife has always seemed to be the prime place for a return of a classic pattern not often seen, or a take on a pattern. To me sodbusters just don't have enough available aspects to make it unique enough to warrant the BF stamp. My opinion only of course, and not saying that I wouldn't hypothetically buy one either. But I see this yearly opportunity to give something big and bold (not meaning size).

Does seem like there is some want for a smaller knife this year. Now to convince you guys and ladies that a punch is much better than a pen blade!!

I love a punch on a knife also, but prefer a clip point.
I also like the slimness of a single spring so I'll change my choice from the 2 bladed Bullnose :barf: to a # 66 Calf Roper Slim with a punch instead of the coping blade.
Keep it slim Jim.;)

As long as a punch is included, I support this choice!! (And understand clips over wharncliffes, I'm okay with that choice!!) :)
