2017 Spyderco Mid-Year Product Guide

what do you want to know about them? both will patina as they are high carbon, but the maxamet will resist patina for slightly longer. maxamet edge retention is at least double that of m4, if not more so. maxamet is probably a little easier to sharpen, tho some maxamet blades have been known to have chipping on some of them, and we dont know why yet (overall they do not do this at all, but a few samples are not working out). maxamet is tough as balls too, i believe the heat treat they are using is optimized for toughness... but if you drop the knife on the tip, its most likely going to break off as shown in the manix2 maxamet thread.

the stuff just keeps cutting and cutting and its easy to strop it and keep going and going. its well worth it.

Thanks. I have a fair amount of experience with M4, and love its toughness. My concern with Maxamet is that the high hardness would render it less tough and difficult to sharpen. Sounds like neither of those will be an issue.

Para 3 in Maxamet would be the one for me! But I think it will be available at the end of the year.... have to be patient.

I bet it's bad enough that I won't be able to grab an S90V Para 3. What do you think, $400?
No way, I've got a military sprint with s90v carbon and titanium for $280... so the para3 sprint will be no more than that and probably less. I'd say around $200 give or take. guessing tho. my m4/cf PM2 was $220 to put it in perspective.

I guess it's time for me to pick up a para3 finally. But which one.... which one...

No, I was talking about the Darn Dao... I bet that ends up costing me all the money.

Super excited about this. The Shaman, Silverax, a lot of great ones here.

Quick thought on the Shaman: looking at the jimping and how it sits above the frame when closed, I wonder if this could be opened like a front flipper?
I'm ecstatic. I've been waiting for this knife to come out since I was gifted the Native FRN and searched google to learn about it and found this forum. The Native is my favorite line of knives, but the main grip area has always been juuuust long enough and on the edge of not being long enough for a full grip for me. I saw the old rumors of the Shaman and have always hoped they'd actually make it. I never preorder knives and I think I'm gonna preorder this.

The Silverax looks like an amazing knife. Flipper and spyderhole (fun and practical), super utilitarian blade shape, no choil so good edge to handle ratio, compression lock. A real winner.
