Anyone ever seen a shed that had been eaten up by mice or squirrels?

I've never seen a carpet beetle, but I've seen plenty of mice and squirrels.

Carpet beetles are to horn, as mice are to antler?? :)

I can't believe Elk has taken the lead back again... Probably the folks who want wood knowing that elk won't beat it out. ;)

This has been a fun thing to watch come together! Pretty happy to have the opportunity!

Well, yesterday was a lot of fun to watch the massive surge of ram votes, and the jockeying for position at the top. Whichever wins this category will get my vote in the final poll.

If you own horn handled knives or you plan to own, you really need to read this article by Bernard Levine:

DON'T LET 'EM BUG YOU

It's about carpet beetles and the havoc they can wreak on horn.

Interesting article

You can always tell when a writer, at some point in their career, has been paid by the column inch! ;) :D

None will win out to burlap! Mwah Ha Ha Ha!:D
I agree. No one wins with burlap.:p

I think ironwood is still the favorite to win. The votes have been firm on that material since we had the very first poll. I like it, but would like something different.

Koa could possibly overtake it with a last minute push though.

I keep seeing people push for Elk but the samples that are being brought forward just seem rather dull particularly the ones on actual Buck knives. I see a lot of push for Koa and finally someone showed off a Buck piece with Koa and well I would now actually like the Koa but the Elk samples so far are all things I would pass on. I would be fine with the Burlap the samples of that have been good looking while it does have a plastic look it is still something different enough that I would like it.

Ahh, but the question is, can the wood get more votes than the Burlap?

Going by the numbers, that Burlap is going to be hard to beat, no matter what the other choices are.

Personally my top choices in all three would be a tough choice Burlap vs Ram vs Shockwood so much beauty in each of those and in the samples we have seen.

Both the animal and wood votes are going to be really close right to the end. Good fun!

I think it will either a close nail biter between all 3 categories, or one of the categories will pull a "Regan vs Carter (or Carter vs Ford) Landslide".

Went to bed last night and was convinced that Ram was going to take it. Revisited this morning and find that Elk made a nice last minute surge.

I had votes in for both Elk and Ram and would have been happy with either. However, I am very pleased that Elk came out on top. My desire for this cover goes far beyond its aesthetics but I can certainly understand the aversion to it that has been mentioned.

In terms of the assumption that Burlap will take the gold regardless, I wouldn't be so quick to count the chickens before the eggs hatch... I think we have seen a rather vocal following for it but that doesn't really account for the silent majority.

Regardless, I am looking forward to the final polls.
