Slant bolstered knives often look good without a shield.
Personally, I don't need a shield on this knife, don't want a Buck shield or a glued in one anyway. I think the money would be better spent on lined bolsters. Less work than shield inletting, then there will need to be n.th polls to decide on the shield....
Needs pins though, and even BRASS ones could be considered as a contrast to the all steel construction
