Slant bolstered knives often look good without a shield.

Personally, I don't need a shield on this knife, don't want a Buck shield or a glued in one anyway. I think the money would be better spent on lined bolsters. Less work than shield inletting, then there will need to be n.th polls to decide on the shield.... Needs pins though, and even BRASS ones could be considered as a contrast to the all steel construction;)

I'm getting eager to get on with the process now- even though ELK stole the poll:D:eek: Get sawing those antlers:cool:

I agree with you. A line on the bolsters would be great.

As for the shield, I'm not really sure if I want one. If we have polished scales, then the answer is yes but, only if we use the anvil shield. Also, if I had my way, it would just be the anvil without the company name but, I doubt if that would really happen. Who knows, people might not even want a shield.

It should be fun watching how all of this ends.

Should be another interesting poll coming up. I like the polls, but wish they were a day or two shorter. I'm looking forward to the final product. I agree, I think a nickel plated anvil without the logo would look nice on polished elk

Elk covers, third blade deleted, double long pulls...sounds like heaven to a lot of folks on the forum but I'm left feeling cold. one. I guess my tastes lean towards the more mundane.

I was originally thrilled at the prospect of buying a stockman in 154 steel but this knife has wandered so far from the large stockman knife I was so excited about. I'm really going to think hard about this one.

I was awol for the voting on #of blades. The blade delete seems like a strange preference to me. Do so many wear fancy pants that slimness in a Stockman is a big deal? I do occasionally see folks state a preference for one blade knives, so to each his/her own, I guess. Me - I like 'em all. I do realize that you can only use one blade at a time...

In this case, I would have preferred a spiral backed leather punch blade in the place of the spey, ala- the old cattle pattern. But I look forward to seeing how this 2 blader turns out.

I am actually happy about the two plade configuration. I voted Ironwood, but elk will still be cool. I dont want a shield. Ide rather have slanted bolsters

If the elk is rough and knobby, I wouldn't want a shield on it. Lines bolsters always looks good to my eye.

Just curious, who of us so far is batting 1000% with getting their main vote chosen in each poll? I'm sure nearly everyone has had to give in on at least 1 feature. But there may be a unicorn member out there that is getting their dream knife!

Lined and/or pinched bolsters?
That would be a deal killer for me. :(
Not because I don't like them, but because it would elevate the price well above the target price of $100, and far, far beyond my reach. :(

Oh well. Such is "life". :)

I was planning to get one but not sure that will happen now as I just had to schedule an operation yesterday and we all know medical crap cost too much even after insurance.

I'm not batting 1000% I wanted a 501 or 532 :p

3 Blades .... Nope
Brass Bolsters .... Nope
Rams Horn .... Nope
440C Steel .... Nope
(I'm OK with CPM-154 though. I've never had it before.)

Sorry to hear about the operation.
I hope all goes well, the hospital stay is short, and the recovery time is rapid.

Well the cost issue is one thing that had several people concerned, so I think that still has to be considered! I'm there with you!

Sorry to hear that! Hope it goes well. It's always something and bad timing!

The 501 was my preference as well!

Yeah, not batting 1000 here on my ideal configuration either... starting with the 303 being my preferred option, so not positive how much I'll actually carry the 301(ish) based on size alone. Would have preferred 3 blades and ram handles as well.

All that said, I'm excited about how the process has gone so far, appreciate the work from SK and Buck, respect the collective will of the forum, and will definitely be picking up at least one!

If I recall correctly, any lining or pinching of the bolsters would be rather cost prohibitive at this point.

In terms of my voting preferences:

Buck? --- Yes
112? --- Nope
2-Blade --- Yes
Jack config? --- Nope
CPM-154? --- Yes
FFG? --- Yes
Long Pull Main/Nail Nick Secondary? --- Nope
Nickel Silver Bolsters? --- Yes
Elk? --- Yes!!!

So, not my dream knife by any means. However, I am thrilled about this knife all the same. It is going to be terrific!

I've been mulling this over and I think I have a solution. I'm going to build a special private page on my website for everyone to order from. This should help me track it the best possible way, as well as get good an accurate numbers. We'll leave the page open for so long, and then shut 'er down. The link will only be available here on the forum.
Is there any concern to having the link open to the public? Granted it will be buried and up only a short time, but there's a risk of flippers ordering up the supply. (The plus side of this is that a broader audience may allow us to make the minimum order number.) Hmmm....
