Would have liked a two spring stockman, aside from that, so far perfect.
Thanks to all who have put this project together

I was awol for the voting on #of blades. The blade delete seems like a strange preference to me. Do so many wear fancy pants that slimness in a Stockman is a big deal? I do occasionally see folks state a preference for one blade knives, so to each his/her own, I guess. Me - I like 'em all. I do realize that you can only use one blade at a time...

In this case, I would have preferred a spiral backed leather punch blade in the place of the spey, ala- the old cattle pattern. But I look forward to seeing how this 2 blader turns out.
There was much lobbying to replace the spey blade in the stockman option, but unfortunately we were pretty much stuck with it on the 3-blade... ever hear the song "Video Killed the Radio Star"? Well... "Spey Blade Killed the 301 Stockman". :D

Had I voted 1000, we would have had a Buck 303 3 blade stockman in CPM154 with a long pull main and nick on the others. Nickel silver bolsters with elk covers. Going forward, my options would be pins, no shield, tang stamp, and knobby elk!

All the options so far are fine with me. Since I have never been through this before, after the choices are finalized, about how long does it usually take to get the knives produced?

Typically its 4-6 months from the time we settle on all the details until we get the knives in our hands.. Although this is the first time we've used Buck Knives to produce our forum knife - I have a feeling they won't waste any time, IMO.

I never got the BF dislike of spey blades. Maybe it just needs a new name that does not convey turning bulls into steers.
Trappers have the same shape, but when it is full length, they call it a skinner.
A spey can be useful when gouging something out. Something which the BF favorites, lamb, sheep, and wharnie simply do not do, although they excel at slicing.
If we had selected a full length secondary, like Cases #75 Moose, but maybe with a lambsfoot, that would have been really unique.
No complaints as is though.

Maybe next year, if Buck is again a contender, we could consider a BF 110!

I feel the same somewhat was very excited at the original prospect but it’s took a turn. Will still get one bc I love buck and I’d like to have probably one of the finest knives they’ll make
Elk covers, third blade deleted, double long pulls...sounds like heaven to a lot of folks on the forum but I'm left feeling cold. one. I guess my tastes lean towards the more mundane.

I was originally thrilled at the prospect of buying a stockman in 154 steel but this knife has wandered so far from the large stockman knife I was so excited about. I'm really going to think hard about this one.

Is there any concern to having the link open to the public? Granted it will be buried and up only a short time, but there's a risk of flippers ordering up the supply. (The plus side of this is that a broader audience may allow us to make the minimum order number.) Hmmm....
It's a good point....hmm. Let me ponder on this one. Maybe we can just do invoices where I specifically invoice each person for the amount they want. It's a heck of a lot more work on my end. Maybe we have everyone message me personally, who wants one, and I can give them the link to the private page. Devil's advocate that option for me.

Should be another interesting poll coming up. I like the polls, but wish they were a day or two shorter. I'm looking forward to the final product. I agree, I think a nickel plated anvil without the logo would look nice on polished elk
Technically they COULD be shorter polls, but either way they will take long. We could run them Friday to Monday, in order to capture the weekend fellows. But then we'd have to wait until the next Friday, so either way it's too much time. But I hear you!

Once we get the final order in, we are looking at 6-8 weeks.

I really don't understand the fear of allowing people to buy the knife. As long as we preorder there is no need for tricky double blind cutout transactions and hundreds of private messages. I mean, what is the worst that could happen? More people get a nice knife?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I am under the impression that we will be prepaying, and then Buck will make the number of knives we ordered. It seems to me that means that it absolutely does not matter if people who fail to meet some bar of forumiteness buy a knife.

I think a link to the order page is more than sufficient to keep things exclusive.

"Devil's advocate that option" for sure! But that would work. One knife, one link? Two knives, two links? Maybe a "you can order only x knives until xx/2018" rule? Like 12/2018, to make sure all members have a chance to get a link and to keep the flippers away from the door? Sure, they could always become a member, but would it be worth the small profit? IDK

You’re already doing a great job with this undertaking.
Bearing in mind I know very little about computers/ programming, how about a private order form/ page on your server/website that can only be accessed by a link in the order thread of this forum? This way, members will be the only ones to have access to the order form, and you can keep your sanity and an accurate means of cataloging orders.
Just a thought.

I don’t think it’s a matter of people who are BF members but don’t regularly visit this forum ordering, but the overall general public who may see the knife up for order on skblades skblades website and make large quantity orders to resell.
