Okay my friends, we have had a long journey to this point, and a lot of fun. I've received tentative pricing on the grooved bolster option, and I believe we can sort that out with this poll, and have the final knife determined.

If you are just joining, the knife that has been built thus far for the 2018 BF Knife is a 2 Bladed Buck 301, Clip and Sheepsfoot on opposite ends of the knife. Your blade steel is CPM-154 with a tang stamp and the bolsters are NICKEL SILVER. Both blades will have FFG and both will have LONG PULLS. ELK will be the handle material, the Dark and Knobby variety, and this knife will have PINS.

This poll gives a few possible combinations of a final product. Everything revolves around the following options:

Groover Bolsters or Non Grooved
Pine Box or Regular Cardboard
Leather Pouch

Keep in mind, these are estimates and can fluctuate by +/- 5% on the final price. Also, I can hear you all now, "We need grooved vs non grooved first, or it will split the votes!" Yes I agree it will split the votes. If things are too close to call, we will do a narrow down and revote because this could get messy. I needed to do it this way so you can see the options and prices laid bare and how each option affects the final price.

I did not add the leather pouch as an option to the Grooved Bolsters, only the pine box.

Also, shipping is NOT included in this price. We'll be able to ship flat rate USPS which is $7.20 for US and anything to Canada is usually $15.50.

*I hold my breath as I click submit

I think I have been following most of these threads, but what do grooved bolsters vs non grooved? Is it just lines? How many? Sorry haven’t seen a lot of buck knives with lined bolsters.

Mine's going to be a user, so plain bolsters and regular cardboard box is perfect for me. I have plenty of leather slips, a wooden box is just another thing I need to store somewhere, and on a knife of this style, I prefer a more simple aesthetic. If we had the smoother, polished elk, I'd be more in favor of a little something extra on the bolsters to add texture, but the rugged, textured elk seems to call for a plain but still elegant bolster. I also appreciate that keeping the price low will make the knife available to more folks. My vote's in for plain bolsters, cardboard box and no slip. With thanks again to skblades skblades , for all the work and effort put into making this forum knife a reality.

I voted "grooved/standard", but, from the other options, it looks like the leather pouch would be ~ $7. For me, the best option would actually be grooved/standard/pouch, which I guess would be $111. I like having a slip and could care less about the box.

Thanks again for all of your time and trouble, skblades skblades !

I voted - "Non Grooved Bolsters, Cardboard Box, & Leather Pouch"

I don't plan on carrying a pine box around with the knife in it. I do plan on carrying the knife so a leather pouch works for me.

I have a scenario to entertain.

One poll to settle the bolster treatment option.

Whatever the outcome, it would ship in the standard (LE) Buck box.

Then offer the pine box and slip as add-ons at purchase.

This way the folks who want grooves, box and slip can have it, just as the knife only folks can have that.

I think we’ve gotten to the point where members might be spending each other’s money, know what I mean?

I would love to offer add ons, but this needs to be a one size fits all order. I can't do a la carte, though it's a great idea. This poll may not be the final poll, if things are too messy. But now at least everyone is getting their eyeballs on final pricing.

I want all of the things.

I voted for grooved bolsters and pine box. But I want the bolsters more than the box, so I might drop down to the next option if needed. Any way you look at it, $115 for the whole package is a steal.

I think the forum knife is gonna be a winner.

I voted for grooved and cardboard. Only pine box i need is the one they bury me in.

Grooved would be nice but it will break the $100 mark and I like being under that not sure for me. I think the add-on I would be most interested in is the leather pouch.

Went with grooved bolsters and a regular box though if the leather slip is $7 would love to have that be an option so I can be certain I have at least one pouch that fits the knife. Either way is fine though.

Now hopefully we get plenty of time to see that the polls have finished before these go up for sale. I've been voting in every poll and would have to see the window to order has passed or they are filled up.

As I said in a thread yesterday...

Let's not create a beauty queen and then dress her in a burlap bag. I am pro pine and pro slip and pro grooved bolsters!
I will vote as close to that as I can! :)
ETA: Maybe the slip and box could be optional "add-ons" at the point of purchase.

I voted grooved bolsters and pine box, because those are things I like. But I am leaving myself open to being swayed. I will be following this thread closely to see what people are saying.

While I have picked the most expensive option, I am sensitive to the fact that the option might be too much for a lot of folks, so I am more than willing to adjust my vote if things are getting tight or I am convinced another way.
