Went with non grooved, cardboard box, and slip. I just checked some of my own knives and all of my customs with stag/elk are smooth bolsters whereas all GEC Northfields are grooved. I like the smoothed look with knobby elk and grooved bolsters adds $23, more than a 25% increase. That doesnt seem worth it.

I voted for non grooved, cardboard and pouch. You can't ever sell me on grooved, the box isn't important to me at all but I'd apreciate a leather pouch. If the majority votes for grooved I can live with that as well, but I'd preffer plain bolsters any day. Regardless of what gets chosen, this is going to be a great knife!

The first Buck 301, made by Schrade, 1966-67, had grooved bolsters. I don't think there has been another. Maybe 300Bucks will chime in he has a vast knowledge of the 300 series. Preston

BTW, my vote can be bought, unless I win Powerball:p:D:p

Voted - Non Grooved Bolsters & Standard Cardboard Box. I am in for whatever wins though!

[Edited to add what I voted for]

Ok, fellow non-grooved + pouch folks, I'll drop my vote back to non-grooved + no pouch if everyone else does, too. Pocket slips are easy to find and I'd rather do without than force people to spend money they don't want to spend on something they don't want. We need to stand united here if we are to outvote the grooved bolster crowd. :p

Ok, I'll drop the box, but I still want the pouch! As long as it's distinctive in some way...:D

I feel like there may be a trend in the ungrooved crowd, keep the knife cheap and functional, that could be causing a split with the cardboard box +/- pouch.

I'm wondering if getting a poll with grooved/ungrooved bolsters would have been good to do before hand, but I understand the need to get the prices out there.

Can someone post pics of grooved bolsters? I don't have any with them and I guess I'm not seeing the allure... or is that the allure?

P.S. Thanks skblades skblades for taking this project on and doing it well.

Grooved, cardboards box for me. Gonna carry this thing, dont need a box.

I wish, Grooved, cardboard and a slip was available

Good call, I pretty much want the knife and pouch and don't care about the box. Really don't care about grooves but I don't care enough to not buy it for the extra cost. This thing is gonna look good either way, IMO.

I don't think we know. I would want it to say Bladeforums, or some such, for me to go for it.
skblades skblades , is that an option at the $7 price point?

I just don't want a difference in opinion over a $7 leather slip that can be purchased by anyone, anywhere having a chance to result in the final decision being an extra $23 for a feature that a lot of people don't want that can't be changed after the fact. :(

For sure. I'm actually hoping we can get a mock up of some kind on the bolsters and the slip.

Okay, I've already reconsidered my original vote. Going for grooved bolsters with cardboard box.

skblades skblades Any chance we can get a idea of the size of the pine box and if it will say Bladeforums on it? If it did and it was a decent size were you could hold a couple of knives in it I think it would look neat on your desk or dresser to hold a couple of items.
