Though, I do think that when it patinas dark and gets some black and greys, it would look nice with black micarta slabs.Yeah alright, but it doesn't corrode or verdrigris like yellow brass does..barf!
Thanks![]()

Nickel Silver is an alloy of Brass. It is C770 Brass.
I bought a 2008 Forum Knife, the 2009 one I got left out of much to my annoyance, bought the 2010, 2011(first GEC knife and an entirely new pattern), didn't like the 2012 but that was also a new pattern from GEC, 2013 I bought again a new pattern from GEC, so too the 2014 GEC new pattern knife, got the Canal St 2015 pattern based on an existing model-the company went bust during production or soon after, our only stainless knife, I won a 2016 knife again GEC new pattern 35, I bought last year's knife a GEC 15. EACH of these was paid beforehand by Paypal before I received a knife and before any were made. So I think GEC got the money guaranteed as it were, no problem for me and none for them I assume. This sounds like prepayment to me..
I think we must ask ourselves a central question when it comes to the numbers game: Is it a Forum Knife or a Flipper's Knife?Last year's 500 order was huge, the biggest yet and loads got sold immediately afterward on the secondary mkt. That's all OK but it should not be a central concern, the sellability of a Forum or group knife
If Buck are prepared to do the knife, one of their Stockman, then why not FOR A CHANGE? GEC has benefited from making very good Forum Knives, it's not some altruistic plan of theirs 'allowing' us to have a knife & we should be feeling grateful about itAll the patterns they made as Forum Knives, the 85 (particularly) 78, 13, 35,15 have all been made with great success as variations so GEC has enjoyed a symbiotic benefit too and I'm all for that but being humble towards them is misplaced.
I like Buck knives, they're authentic, long established and a special version with bone or stag scales would be a hit with many. Do we actually have to have 500 minimum? that needs confirming. One point I like about their Stockmen is the ALL STAINLESS construction, so I'm dismayed by talk of brass! Brass stinkswe don't need no stinkin' brass

But that point will have to be decided by pollI think Buck may let us decide that, GEC seems to decide now what we can have...

Just a quick update. There are other talks going on with manufacturers, and more info will be posted as it is available.
So far Manly Knives does seem like they would be interested as well.

They said we have two options, "Manly", or "Thuper Manly".Are they willing to make a knife that doesn't have the word "manly" stamped or etched on it anywhere?

Honestly, I have no idea.
I was told that they could laser engrave the knives with a logo or otherwise, of our choosing.
I was also told that $80-$90 would be a likely range for their S90V. Due to that, I would think their CPM154 or D2 would be less, if only by a slight amount.
Just looked at their USA offerings, I'd be in for a Wasp without a clip and a "Manly" stamp. I'd be okay with S90V, but I would advocate strongly for CPM-154, as that stuff sharpens like a dream and takes an edge that I love. It looks to be to the Sodbuster Jr. what the Roundhead/Shuffler is to the barlow.

With wood slabs, bare head, and no clip, it would fit a bit better.

I also feel that CPM154 would be a safer bet. Especially considering many folks sharpen with benchstones, be it water or oil. Many of those stones do not have the hard elements (SiC, or diamond) to cut the Vanadium carbides of S90V.Just looked at their USA offerings, I'd be in for a Wasp without a clip and a "Manly" stamp.
