Be optimistic. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks for getting us back on track SK, I think we were all worried there for a bit  Sounds like we're one blessing away from picking up steam. ;)

I believe consensus at this point is the 301/303 with full flat grind, cpm-154 and BF tang stamp. Things undecided are shield or no shield and handle material. Most popular choices seem to be the burlap micarta, bone/stag (elk) and a nice wood (charcoal dymondwood, ironwood, burly poplar).

Please don't assume for the entire forum. Let's confirm that stuff with some polls.

GEC is open to a query about making the BF knife.
I also appreciate the enthusiasm for a Buck, and would like to see the larger (301?) model with Elk handles.
Regardless, I am in for at least one!!
@skblades feel free to contact me if you want anything I might have!

The Porch is merely rented from BF and Spark. Long term inhabitants will always feel some sort of ownership. If an unofficial trad forum knife is made without bf consent heaven knows where things will end.
No doubt some entrepreneurial overseas company will produce several new ,"official porch forum traditional blade annual knife"
The absence of truth means little in todays world.
One reason why this simpleton enjoys the conceptual porch . I think the word Integrity sums it up.

So, if someone could be so kind, what is the condensed version of this thread? I don't have the time to read back 47 pages.

At the risk of misinterpreting, I'll take a crack at it. I've followed the thread from the beginning. Here's how I see things at the moment:
  • skblades has offered to spearhead a Buck traditional, and has approached Spark about coming to an arrangement for using the BladeForums name (which would enable it to be the official Traditional subforum knife)
    • The 301 or 303 Stockman is the leading candidate, perhaps including a wooden box, and in premium stainless
    • If an arrangement around the name can't be reached, there may be a Buck SFO for a 301/303, but it would not bear the BF tang stamp
  • waynorth is likely not spearheading the forum knife this year, as he is feeling a bit burned out
  • GEC is amenable to producing this year's knife, but someone willing to shoulder the logistical burden and financial risk would need to step forward
  • A couple other manufacturers have been contacted, but there doesn't seem to be nearly as much traction around them as there is for a Buck or GEC offering
For a much more humorous and engaging summary, just search this thread for posts by meako. :D

Or as long as we're dreaming, full size clip, sheepsfoot, (or Wharncliffe) and spey.
Since a 3 spring design why not combine the "Trapper" blades (full size clip and spey) with a full size sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe? No bent blades for clearance, and no worries about blade rub. :)

Thanks for the summary.
However, reading it from the beginning is highly recommended because it will REALLY make you want to have this 2018 BF Traditional Forum knife. It's like being forced to watch "Dances With Wolves" for two weeks straight. Lots of highs / lows and at this point it's looking like you will get to ride off into the sunset with Stands With a Fist... and a new BF traditional knife :) Maybe o_O

Mikes coping blade is my favorite secondary blade. Every knife should have one.

I would be interested to see what gec has. Maybe it’s a new pattern, case sized swayback jack, mini trapper, or Zulu knife. Mmmmm
