Important Info! 2019 Forum Knife : Poll Schedule / Content

You shouldn't take it personally, unless it is warranted.

That's like saying you shouldn't be offended when I call you a no-good lying piece of dung - unless you are one; but then you really shouldn't be offended because I didn't say anything that wasn't true.

Either way I don't get to take it personally. ;)

But I didn't take offense to anything you said.

I think one of the 78 offerings had a checkered bone cover or at least it looks checkered. If they did a checkered ebony I'd pay twice as much! Here is the 78 I mentioned. I owned this one at one time. Pic borrowed from TKC online.

I don't understand why everyone wants ebony. Yes, ebony looks sharp, and I like ebony, but there's a 95% chance they'll be making an ebony option in the normal production run already.

For this next poll, I'm going to vote acrylic, in the hopes that veneer abalone is an option.

Yellow Awabi shell would be kind of nice.
I like your thinking on Ebony...we need something thats not run of the mill.

Machining wood as in jigging (done by GEC) scratting or checquering surely must greatly add to the cost , what with the extra finishing etc??

Thinking bone, the GEC Cobblestone or any Peach Seed kernel would look very effective on a larger Barehead:cool:

We need to pick a standard production GEC scale. Anything we pick will be used again. The 86 mock-up from GEC is green micarta and jig bone.

If soup bone or scratted bone is an option that would be my choice.

But what if we were offered an acrylic that was brand new and exclusive to the BF knife?
That could be kind of neat.

Current is a relative term....;) 'currently using' means actually right now, clearly....:D

My counter blast to the Ebony cohort would certainly be for Osage Orange, suits a larger Barehead knife- think GEC Viper, even though it's not currently in production:p

Cobblestone shows CHARACTER it can be improved by using the right colour..

And on that point, colour, we need to escape from the prison of brown and orangey knives if bone is chosen! Not had Smooth Ivory Bone (always a looker and currently in circulation) there's been no Red knife-that's poor, nor a green one either, thankfully no blue:poop: yet though:D Greyish Cobblestone.....

May I add no purple to your list please :D.

I second no red... unless it's hemlock green because GEC always turns their red knives pink on SFO's.

I take "currently" to be a little more broad. Although, I think it does leave out options like Soup bone and Primitive bone, since it's been years since we have seen either of those.
I could go for Osage!
Grayish cobblestone sounds.........hideous. sorry:)

Purple? Yes, barf! There was a lurid violet that some fancied a couple of years back, I turned a blind eye....

Don't quite agree about the Reds (think Burgundy Burlap!!) the recent Elderberry on the 82 shown here came out a very fanciable colour

Ah, I was thinking the Elderberry Camel 77's from Mike. I think they were a bit pinkish. What's your thought about the jigged wood option on the slab poll? I'm surprised to see that option. Do you know if GEC has jigged anything besides Cherry?
