Attention 2019 Forum Knife : Poll - Shield

I won't vote for banner in fear that it will be full-sized.

I made a comment awhile back in one of these threads in regards to GEC's shield sizing. I believe that they size it to the knife, as evidenced by the recent 06s.

I certainly won't make any guarantees, but I don't think adjusting the banner size would be an issue. They've done it with other shields in the past. Not trying to change your mind though.

I wonder if we could get word on whether any of these shields could/could not be adjusted to fit?

I changed my vote from banner, just because it seemed like a longshot, but will gladly switch back if it gains momentum.

Banner, propeller, Orleans, bomb would all look good on this one though.

I'd vote for banner if it specifically said "Small Banner". But if the size of the banner goes to a vote there is a chance it will end up as a regular sized banner. Same with the Orleans, if it goes to a vote the reversed orientation may win. Propeller was the safer bet for me.

I really wish that the bowtie had made it into the poll. It's really just a smaller banner. I think it would have been a serious contender, alleviating most all the worries that people have had with the banner. knifeswapper , can we get a write-in that if banner is too big, then bowtie will be used?

EVERYONE needs to check the poll at the top of their screens to see if they have voted in error.

You MUST VOTE for either "Shield" or "No Shield," and then you MAY vote for an individual shield choice. The number of individual shield votes cannot be greater than the total of Shield and No Shield, but may be less if the No Shield voters don't vote for an individual shield.

Let's get this cleared up quickly, so we all know where we stand in the voting . . . please!​

I went Bomb shield. I like that shield a lot. I wouldn't mind Orleans either. Federal is pretty nice too, but looks like Orleans has a strong lead. I do not have an opinion on orientation of the Orleans shield.

The shield in that orientation looks great and is as it should be in my opinion. BUT what kills it is the Saber Grind, again my opinion.

I'm actually thinking most banner supporters are in favor of how it's represented in a majority of waverave's mockups, which would be a smaller version than what has been used on whalers. I don't think a separate vote would be needed at all.

It's also possible that some sizing would be necessary on any shield option.

I'd agree that most of the Porch members would probably vote for a smaller banner shield, but we are dealing with a forum-wide voting audience and there is no telling how the vote might swing. Just too risky for me. For now, Propeller and Bomb seem like the safest bets, and I think that either one would look nice on this knife. Plus, with Orleans in such a strong lead, it's probably a non-issue anyways.

I think out of all the shields that GEC uses, aside from special ones like the banana and such, the only shield that I would take exception to is the Hotdog. Not because it is necessarily a terrible shield but because GEC overuses it and, as a result, have a made it a terrible shield.

Not going to happen Jeff. Right now it's 219 votes for "Shield" or "No Shield" and 267 votes for individual shield choice. I don't know how it will be resolved but the numbers don't add up. How do you think it will be resolved?

It would be tough to fathom a custom shield being a possibility, but resizing an existing shield not.

I know the acorn is not an option, but here are 3 different sizes, so that each one fits the knife. Sorry for the lousy photo.
