Although acrylic will never happen, that was my vote.

I could go for a good sawcut bone though. Sawcut looks stellar when it is a long cut like on the below images. I always loved the Michigan jack red sawcut and the chestnut on the Beer Scout. Deep denim/royal blue would be nice too.

Those are beautiful. I love sawcut bone, but I have doubts about it winning the poll.

If you like random jigged bone then you should vote for jigged bone. It is not right to manipulate others through fear. It is plainly evident when someone is fear mongering, and, in my opinion, they have no credibility. All of the choices presented to us are good ones.

Obviously, GEC and Bill Howard can create beautiful random jigged bone that will not easily crack. Just because they produce a lot of patterned jigging does not mean that they cannot do random. All we have to do is order the knife with random jigging. This has been done with great results recently in Charlie’s SFO’s and the M & G Yankee Whittler. Examples abound in this thread and on the internet. It only took me a few minutes to find these to borrow.

Mike knows the type of random jigging we want. I am certain he could easily convey our wishes to Bill. The fact that GEC usually produces patterned jigging would make our random jigged Forum knife even more unique.

It seems like the time for everyone to consolidate their votes behind one of the two frontrunners.

Thank you @Travman for your excellent examples.

I agree with Txjohn Txjohn , do not take counsel from your fears.

Normally, I enjoy highly figured wood grain, but if you look at vintage knives like this, they were usually a dark, closely grained wood. I find it hard to imagine getting bored with ebony, but something with rich brown streaks like cocobolo would be beautiful, too.

Since @waverave has that handy database, how many smooth wood options would there be, if we really do have access to all of them?

Obviously, the really exotic is out, but that list could be really long.

ETA: Here's a question for the ebony proponents. Would you still want ebony if the shield was guaranteed to be the hotdog? Could happen!

If the covers we're unicorn horn with the hotdog shield I would pass.

Really on the fence with this poll. I'd love a good random jigging or some sawcut, but smooth wood would look good to.

Borrowed picture, but this is a sweet jigging as well....

I could get behind jigging like this. GEC never does jigging like that, though. Would look really sweet with the copperhead dye.

Smooth wood for the win, though. Stability/durability and weight. It'll make this knife feel sweet and very well balanced in hand. That Ironwood with the propeller shield that TNK does looks great. Ebony with a bomb shield, or orleans.

Awesome work Wave...
I voted Micarta, solely because I have no Traditional with it...but the jigged wood really looks nice

I used to primarily only buy bone because it's beautiful. Right now I only have 3 bone knives left in my GEC collection and 2 are broken. One, with end caps that i dropped and still broke in the middle of the knife somehow. The other broke in the drawer as I havent carried it in ages. Both middle pins have a sliver cracked from it. I want to love bone but it's just too fragile for me in a user. I'll get this one even if it is bone and can rehandle it if it cracks. My personal experience has just made me gun shy on the stuff is all.

I will not be disappointed in either wood or bone, though I'd prefer something scratted or checkered (if you haven't figured THAT preference of mine out yet).

I voted jigged bone in the hopes of getting my preference, because jigged wood was so far behind when I came to the thread.

If I were voting I would be voting for jigged wood seems the most unique option and I believe would look great with the current winners from the prior polls.
