If you're going to use Strike Anywhere Matches such as these:

Never, ever strike off a match on your trouser leg while breaking wind.

Be dang careful that a piece of the phosphorus tip doesn't flake off and stick under your thumbnail when striking off the match.

Teeth - Not such a great idea. A piece of phosphorus burning on your tounge can be quite painful.

Zipper - Make sure you're zipped up when doing this.

meako meako - I have dropped out of Drama Class so no drama from me next year.

As, really, an outsider here (relatively recent to the forums and a low-volume poster) what struck me about this “50-knife shortfall” thing is how swiftly and comprehensively the forum’s members moved in to make sure those doing the hard work were not left with a financial burden.

Sure, I did my little bit - but that’s mostly because I saw how everyone else was rallying around so thought I should help too. I am looking forward to the knife (it will be my 1st GEC) but that wasn’t my main motivation. I just thought “this is a fine group, working to make sure the organisers are OK and to preserve a valued group exercise: I’ll be part of that!”

I think this has shown a deal of ‘team spirit’, if you will. I sure hope the forum knife exercise continues into the future (perhaps with adjustments) because that spirit deserves preserving.

Well said, with a lot of common sense. And i hope, and i am sure that you will enjoy your first GEC.:)

I’m sorry, but those Diamond brand Greenlight matches are an abomination. Absolute garbage product.

UCO brand is pretty good if you can find them, and the Kaeser Wilderness Supply matches look very good but cost 10 bucks for 170 matches.

I take my matches and match striker pulls very seriously!

E Elgatodeacero - Been using the pictured matches for years. Use em to light our wood stove and brush piles each fall. Never had a problem. You do know that you're suppose to strike the white tipped end and not the plain wood end don't you?:)

I been missing you, randy.

I believe the 2019 Forum #86 knives will go out after the Tidioute #86 Oily Creek bone Oil Field Jack knives. GEC has been making the dealer SFOs in the middle of the runs. Mr. Charlie said , "The black jack Charlie #86 knives would go out by late November. We should have our Forum knives this month. I am more excited about the #86 Oily Creek Bone knife that I have on pre-order.

Jump in your time machine and travel back six months. Or you can watch the exchange after we get them and wait for someone to sell one.
