Are you planning to have the blackwood replaced with a different wood before it's sent on to you?

You could call GEC and ask about their timber sourcing policies. It might not matter to everyone, but it's nice to have more information.

Yes - replaced with jobillo wood. I like the look and its not listed on CITES.

I am not too familiar with how it works but I think GEC would need some sort of official statement on CITES - even then it might not be enough. I am not a SJW but sustainable foresting is an issue that seems worth supporting.
 
With the CITES categories we are talking about, declaring is the main requirement. And declaration means FWS inspection, which is expensive. Most of these woods, horns, shells, are not on the endangered list - just on the tracking list.
