knifeswapper Also, I would be loath to knowingly request a wood previously rejected by GEC. There are enough concerns with how it will turn out.
Mike, knifeswapper , any chance we could find out if steel pins are an option at the same time as well? I know it would help me ( and others possibly ) to help decide which wood to vote for.
Hope it is an option. What's wrong with the traditional Ebony?
I think I would prefer something dark on this knife, but I LOVE olivewood.Olive wood?
I'm very reluctant to suggest one they haven't used before, but it is used a lot elsewhere. Most pieces seem great, and it would add a lighter option to choose from.
Mike, if you think it's a bad suggestion, please ignore. I trust your judgment here way more than my own.

I can ask, but again steel pins means more pressure required to install. If it is a special request, we will be responsible for resultant cracks. Lesson learned.
Why is burl, like tiger maple, not an option on this run?
I'm surprised Mike has any hair. Probably eats a bottle of TUMS a day!Palo Santo or walnut would be pretty fly
Probably for many reasons. First being they don't have a source for it; as I provided mine. But most importantly because there was a huge loss during processing and the group probably does not want to risk many members getting cracked handles. GEC has had a no burl policy for a long time; but I signed my first born away to get them to run it - at all full risk to me.
I was just about to ask about NS pins myself, good call on the liners also Dylan. Why not nickel silver pins and liners rather than steel?
Would be awesome if they still had some barrel oak but understand if that's exclusive to the beer scout
