Recommendation? 2019 Forum Knife : Smooth Wood Pre-Poll Options Needed

Probably for many reasons. First being they don't have a source for it; as I provided mine. But most importantly because there was a huge loss during processing and the group probably does not want to risk many members getting cracked handles. GEC has had a no burl policy for a long time; but I signed my first born away to get them to run it - at all full risk to me.

If you want to source it, stabilize it, and send it to them with the agreement that there will be no complaints or returns of the final product - I can ask.

Ha! No, I’ll pass on that. I don’t want to be on the hook with this crowd. I was curious. Thanks for the response and all the work you’re putting into this. It’s much appreciated.

I know black walnut burl was requested, I know burl is out, but otherwise how about regular black walnut?

More pressure=bent pins=cracked covers - been there done that, it's not worth it.

Depends on the covers. I'm pretty sure I have several in African Blackwood with steel pins/bolsters. Some TC barlows and I think some of the 77 Barlows are steel liners, pins, bolsters.
