Maybe with an order of this size, Hess might be willing to do us a 'special', a Woodcraft or Ideal for example?
This is a Hess Muley. 7 3/4 inches overall length. Maybe something like it, but a little smaller for pocket carry?

Great-looking knife Rachel, I'd love to see something like this

It might save a little time of contemplation to contact Hess and ask if he would be willing to make any pattern in this quantity for 2019 delivery.

Good point Mike, it'd be a lot of work for a small company with pre-existing commitments

If we’re gonna go fixed, I see no reason to buy one that you carry in a pocket. Isn’t that the point of carrying a folding pocket knife?

Well it depends..a lot of people like a discrete smaller fixed blade that you can drop in a topcoat pocket. Unless I have a Puukko on a dangler sheath I hate sitting down to rest or drive a car with some knife pommel jabbing my ribs from nowhere:D

But it's all personal taste.

a small pocket size puukko would be great.

i would like to see a special edition Mora Eldris with carbon blade, no coating, and a special handle and sheath color (maybe cinnamon brown polymer or even real wood such as masur birch) with an orange or red cord for neck carry and to attach a firesteel.

mora, mora, mora!

does anyone speak Swedish?

I would have once agreed but since picking up a few of D. W. Childress’ on the exchange - small fixed blades - I find myself carrying them more and more frequently. I have ‘a number’ of fixed blades of all sorts of shapes and sizes, and there are only a few that are short enough to go inside a pocket. Its a max of 6”. They also need to be relatively light - though that isn’t essential. The sheath is also important, it has to be unobtrusive. Most kydex sheaths are to angular to go inside a pocket comfortably.

The top and bottom knives in the photo below illustrate good pocketability.

However, once you hit that formula, its magic how simple and useful that little knife becomes. If I am going outside to do some jobs in the weekend, its just a habit to put one in my pocket. I really can’t recommend it highly enough.

This is why I regard the Hess as a bit underbladed for its handle size and weight. I like and use all of these, but only a few are suited to pocket carry. Sorry for the bad indoors photo

Ja säkert , men om vi...;) have Morakniv I don't regard them as a puukko...it will be very difficult to get them to tangstamp the blades and I can't see them being interested actually. I'm not keen on those all plastic handles either...

Similar with a puukko, getting a manufacturer to do volume means forgetting any artisan smiths as they can only produce small orders and they are naturally very expensive. So that means asking Marttiini or Iisakki Järvenpaa and I don't think they do special orders. Also, postage costs for a lot of fixed blades plus sheathes from Finland to the US will be costly, then the vast bulk of them have to be delivered to customers inside the US. If it's a fixed, best stay with US makers for practical reasons.

Here's a very small pocket puukko with GEC 15 for size. Its handle is birch and Reindeer antler.

Just for size reference...

This is the *ONLY* fixed blade knife I have & I wouldn't mind a BF fixed blade for 2019. :)
