knarfeng knarfeng Would it be possible for other BF members to help facilitate shipping to the non-US guys if Mike isn't able to ship out of US?

Example: I know a few guys in the busse forum that are from Aus and I would feel comfortable getting another forum knife for myself and then shipping to them, if they cover shipping. I'm not sure if I would buy the knife and resell it to them at cost or they buy the knife and have it delivered to my address and then forward it to them once it arrives. There's a bit of risk there for untrustworthy gents to snag a bunch of knives so I'm not sure on it's feasibility.

I voted for the vangard. I really want to get a unique traditional fixed blade, I tend to use and keep them more than the folders. I would love to get something with a leather handle, but we'll see what the options are later.

I'm not for the 86, we just had a single blade sheepsfoot 2 years ago so it seems redundant. Though, single blade sheepsfoot are splendid blades. I would make the fox knife a 2nd choice, if ranking all of them.

I’d be happy with any of them but I’ve been hoping the 86 would be offered in a single blade so that was my vote.

I went with the 86, it's likely the only one that would see much use from me, and I love the specs. The Fox is just too big for a folder to me, and I very rarely have use for a fixed... although I suppose it could see kitchen duty... hmmm...

Edit... didn't take me long, switched to the Buck. I see more long term value in having a nice fixed at my disposal.

Hey you saw it will be a single sheepsfoot blade right?

Personally that is something I would enthusiastically support! I had a single-sheepsfoot 15 that I really liked (and modded and then liked even more) but it was just a tad too small so I ended up selling it. But the extra .4" of handle length in the 86 would really make a difference!

Thanks to all those who potentially make this possible!

I missed that when I read through it but that's even better! I've been wanting a nice single bladed sheepsfoot traditional and this size is nice.

I have always liked the Buck 118, it was my first Buck in 1969-70. That said, the 192 Vanguard has grown on me in the past six-eight years.

For a user I bought an Alaskan Guide 692, Vanguard. It has SV30 steel and titanium-nitrite coating, and a textured rubber handle . I have some regular production, a few of Buck's build outs...knives put together with left overs from similar runs as well as limited editions.

The 192 is well balanced, feels good in hand, comes in various steels and has a multitude of handle material options.
Here are a few examples...

I have only seen it offered with this type of sheath, maybe SKBlades, Stephan has some other options. It has my vote. Preston

Just my thoughts and a couple of questions.
- On the GEC 86, will the Sheepsfoot blade be scaled up since it will be the sole/primary blade? As a secondary, from the diagram, it doesn't really fill the frame. Also, will we be able to vote on the inclusion of the rear bolster?
- The Fox has a pretty sexy profile but I would prefer a lock back in that style. I doubt that would be an option and I completely understand why.

First of all thanks Frank for getting this started and of course to Mike and Stephen. Number one thanks to Spark.
I’ll pass on the GEC 86 for two reasons. We just did that configuration and a largish sheepsfoot is really not for me. The Fox is intriguing and depending on the cover might make a good choice. The Buck is ahead in my thinking so at the moment it’s Buck #1 Fox #2 and GEC trailing the field.

I’m excited about the GEC 86 with Sheepfoot Blade. I have loved Case’s 11031 SH for years and hopefully this GEC 86 will be similar. Case’s 11031 is such a wonderfully simple design. The only real bit of fancy is the long pull on the sheepfoot blade.

Hopefully our BF version will be the first 86 and get the PPP etch. I’ll vote for a Jigged bone or a beautiful wood with the Orleans shield. Or maybe smooth ivory bone... or maybe...

Thanks to all who are involved in this effort. It's a large undertaking and we all appreciate what you are doing for us.
So, let's see... The Fox is just too big for me, so that one is out. The Buck fixed blade is intriguing, but I'm afraid that further polls on it might turn it into something I don't want. While I wish the GEC knife was coming with a single Clip Blade, I think it's still going to get my vote for now.

Thanks to Mike and Steve for your willingness to help. I would have liked to see a Buck folder in like 112 as it would be more in line with the other knives. I voted for the Buck and will most likely get the forum knife this year as long as it is made in the USA.

It was a pretty easy vote for me. The Fox and the Buck designs did absolutely nothing for me. And Buck isn't getting any votes from me until I see a resolution to the issues with my forum knife from last year.

The single sheepsfoot on the GEC doesn't exactly wow me. But still, it's a GEC. It'll be of good quality.

I went with the 86. A sheepsfoot blade is my favorite and most used blade. I carry the 2017 bf sheepsfoot or a beerscout a lot. A bit bigger version would be cool.

I will echo olywa's post #28: will the sheepfoot fill the 86 frame, or will they just use the smaller secondary as pictured? Vote pending.

I’m not it in a position to answer this question with any actual authority, but I’d say I’m 99.9% sure the single sheepsfoot will be a full-size blade.

I'd go out on a limb and provide the other .01%.:D Guaranteed to be a full size blade. You have my word.:)
Seriously folks, do you think GEC would just delete the main blade? No

I too have always liked the Case 11031. It is simple, and extremely functional. I have had at least 3 of them pass through my hands. Each time they were rejected because of the Black Walnut. All the handles were biodegrading before my eyes. After 45 years, the handles were truly crappy.
I certainly hope the BFs have a long pull. That was the most attractive aspect!
