2020 GEC #19 Little Rattler Thread

It's a fastball straight down the middle, they made a point of pointing out that it was the smallest breed of rattle snake then made a small snake knife. You all read too much into it. SMH.
You are correct. I’m following your lead from now on instead of the crowd. Damn myself for being a follower of the mass! Ha ha!

My only experience with this shape of blade in use is with disposable construction razors. What I notice with those is that often the tip is the first thing to go. Albeit they are much thinner than a pocket knife but do these blade styles have the same issue, how would you avoid rounding the tip in use?
Im excited for this pattern, the small ones seem to be so convenient for my day to day use!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there is still a Viper coming.

The Rattler will come in 3 Tidioute and 3 NF versions.

I am certainly hoping we will see a #47 Viper - I've been waiting for GEC to do another run of those for a very long time.

It's nice to hear that there will be a decent cover variety for the #19s. I plan on scooping up at least a couple - it is always fun to try out a new pattern (even if it's just a reversed frame).

I like the Tidioute, diggin' the etch (I know, etched aren't popular) and the jiged bone and the shield.
Pretty dang slick lookin' little knife that will definitely get snatched out of my cart.

I wouldn't be so quick to give up hope. I've been doing this long enough to get an idea of the sorts of knives that appeal to the greater masses - obviously with a sizable margin of error :D. The majority of folks like more symmetrical patterns that fall within a specific size range. These #19s are neither symmetrical nor inside the more popular range of size. That, coupled with what looks like a decent variety of covers, should give you plenty of opportunity to land one or two.

I remember the most recent run of Pembertons - they are a dainty knife but were still pretty well received. As of just a moment ago, you can still find stock of these with dealers. I think you'll do ok if you really want one of these Rattlers.

(Bear in mind, I am fully prepared to eat crow should none of the above be the case...)

Lol, yeah it's like picking stocks.
I hope you're right.
It really blows my mind how easy it was to get a 62, a 23, an 06, and even the M&G trapper, but the conductors sold out in 7.2 seconds and so did the reserves on the 74 and it looks like the Beer and Saysage sold out in seconds too.
I was thinking that the flippers are now really in to GEC big time all the sudden and grabbing everything.
Maybe not all the sudden, but in greater numbers and with more zeal.

Why does this mean we are not getting a viper too? There are two snakes in all the hints.
Randy Bell said on the FB group that "things happen" and the Vipers will come eventually, as they have some nice, fresh new springs ready to go.

My understanding is that the last 3 runs have been low production numbers which might make it feel like there is a huge and rabid demand for them. I think that the demand is relatively the same, we just have far lower supply - in comparison to previous runs.

I can't recall reading the Conductor numbers.
1200 total of the B&S knives (400 each cover).
I read somewhere that with the #74 run, there will be around 200 of each cover.

(ETA: The M&G knives were not marketed at all - more of a "word of mouth" thing. Had they been more widely advertised, it would have been akin to a Northwoods drop - or one of the recent B&S drops.)

All three of the above were stated as being "short runs" - unlike the previous patterns. Hopefully, the #19 run is a "back-to-business" venture and there will be plenty for folks to scoop up.
