2020 GEC #19 Little Rattler Thread

Randy Bell said on the FB group that "things happen" and the Vipers will come eventually, as they have some nice, fresh new springs ready to go.
Yeah I saw that too, Knifeswapper said he thinks there will be some vipers. So as usual it comes down to Bill Howard and your guess is as good as mine.

Hopefully they make enough of these 19's for those that want one. GEC's dealer list shows over 20 dealers, and at least one distributor (sells to other dealers, but not to individuals). Seems to me that a short run leaves each seller with a way smaller pile of knives to sell. Gone in minutes here...gone in seconds there...

Well, I’m interested in this new 19, but I’m not sure if I want to buy it. I have a two blade beagle and it has a good feel. Not sure yet on this single blade. Hopefully it will be reasonably priced since it’s a little guy. My funds have been tight lately.

I think it’s great Bill Howard is taking some chances and making some new patterns. Plus, he’s great at marketing. He posts up a few pics of hints and has all of us on the edge of our seats for months.

I’m actually very pleased with this release and with GEC because my wallet needs a break! They’ve been releasing a bunch of awesome stuff the last couple of years. This is a hard no for me.

Why does this mean we are not getting a viper too? There are two snakes in all the hints.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say there is still a Viper coming.

I dare say with any certainty that I know what is coming next. I interpreted the artwork with the Mustang/snake to represent the 74 coming up and the snake art on its own represented a viper...or Little Rattler. However, I suppose the small snake in the Mustang art could represent the #19 and there still could be a Viper coming at some point.

This one isn't particularly ideal for me...although I do love me some smalls. I am curious what materials will be offered and will likely grab a few, of course.

I am seeing a lot of stage #1 posts :D

That was a pretty funny post, cheers!

I think these look awesome, and though not a fan of smaller knives, I think these are going to make a lot of folks happy. Though I don't accumulate the lil' ones, I enjoy looking at photos of them and seeing folks enjoyment of them. It takes all kinds of critters to make farmer Vincent fritters..

Looks good but I can breath a sigh of relief knowing I won’t be going for one. I am happy GEC is giving us new patterns though.

If it's a reversed 18 Coyote I'm not interested. True the blade will be a broader Wharncliffe but it's just too small a handle to get to grips with-I suspect. My 18 Northfield Blackwood is a very pretty knife, but it's unused as it's a tiny toy.

This is one for Miniature enthusiasts.

What is the smallest species of snake?? This is worm sized :D

It looks like the size will lend itself nicely to "whittling" duties...... although, the handle might be a touch short for really comfortable carving...

Nice looking, but a little small for my old hands.

Same for me. Great blade shape and size for whittling but too short handle. Put the 19's blade on a 47's handle and you get a true carver.

Dan.

I was trying to figure out what to compare it to, and found that it's almost the same size as the Case baby butterbean. I have a couple of those that never get carried... not to say that I wouldn't carry this one, but history indicates otherwise

For size comparison: my #57 SFO (a favourite) and a #06.
