2020 GEC #19 Little Rattler Thread

Onearmbladenut Onearmbladenut would say. GEC collecting is war but this is psychological warfare.ha!
The "Things to Ponder ?" clues showed a standing horse with a rider-less saddle and two snakes. A wild mustang should not have a saddle , unless it is being broke in. I am still hoping for a GEC#74 Saddle Trapper run . A #47 Viper run would be cool too. I want a phat Sambar Stag #19 with pinched bolster. This knife too tiny for one arm me. I still want two , but not a red Tidoute jigged bone knife.

Two? What are you going to do with two "tiny" knives? I would much rather hold on to my dineros and hope for the 47 Viper and overextend myself with those.

I was Fred Flintstone was steam coming out of my ears and my top blew off when I was told that only 200 pieces each of the #74 Mustangs. I had all four choices pre-ordered after spotting the #74 lined bolsters and now I only receiving one pre-order. All the other dealers were booked. I could of bought all four M&G , but I ended up with the two bones. They came into today, wonderful. I save my butt off for the GEC#74 run. I put off a 52100 steel custom fixed blade with my blade-smith for the #74 run . My blade-smith is booked so the knife will be made in 2021 instead of September 2020. I will be sweating it out chasing the drops on an old computer. I could really care less about the GEC#19s and the GEC#47s compared to the GEC#74 run. I am still hoping for a GEC#74 Saddle Trapper two-blade run. That horse did have an empty saddle. I don't mind a 200 pieces run , but give us collectors 10 superb choices. (2000 pieces) Give every body a chance to get at least one or a few. "GREAT EASTERN CUTLERY KNIFE COLLECTING IS WAR !" I am cooled off now , every GEC I receive is a blessing. The hard fight makes me appreciate my knives more. The challenge is on !

I think the GEC#19 Little Rattler is cute. I want a phat Sambar stag #19 with pinched bolsters. I might desire a second one after the schedule release. Any wood , anything blue , an acrylic that does not look sissy or a really nice Northfield wavy jigged bone. I wanted one or two #19s and the same with the #47s. I can always figure out to open any knife one handed and using my feet. A few GEC knives I can hold between my thighs/knees to open up. Those are the ones I go dang fool over and try to buy 10 to 13 of. The GEC#97s , GEC#92s Eureka and GEC#86 knives were made just for me.

Hey, you left out the 35 Calf&Pen for one arm opening. One of my favorites.

The Boss would tell me to purchase fewer knives and get a new computer. That way you can sit for an hour or two and hit the refresh button every ten seconds in order to chase those new drops down. :)
Well I aint right in the head. When my computer wanks out , I will stop collecting. I hate computers , I'll use a library computer for any business needs. My knife collecting is winding down. I have everything that I really need. I have blade addiction. Everything I buy now is gravy. I hate big Tech companies ! I hate eye phones , I use my mother's computer. I buy guns , ammo , and knives.

Lol, yeah it's like picking stocks.
I hope you're right.
It really blows my mind how easy it was to get a 62, a 23, an 06, and even the M&G trapper, but the conductors sold out in 7.2 seconds and so did the reserves on the 74 and it looks like the Beer and Saysage sold out in seconds too.
I was thinking that the flippers are now really in to GEC big time all the sudden and grabbing everything.
Maybe not all the sudden, but in greater numbers and with more zeal.
Some are less wise than others happily. Like that $165 06 Templar. Thanks mr , you made my day :p:p:p

Thankfully not interested. The dogleg in the handle makes it look like it'll be easy for the tip of that wharnie to become proud of the handle after only a little sharpening.

Do the other guys tease you when you carry sissy-looking acrylic handled knives?

I'm absolutely dying laughing. :D

I've been wondering the same thing.

I had the same thought- the only thing I'll say is that with rare exception, most GEC's have tips that are relatively shallow in the blade well. Even if the handle was reversed, I still think we'd see that they don't make use of the additional space inside the well. I believe I've read that it's by design, and perhaps over cautious against blade rap, but I sure appreciate the well sunk tips in the #93's and the one sheepsfoot #15 I own.

I'll look at my 06 wharnecliffe when I get home tonight- if I recall correctly that one doesn't have a very buried blade tip.

I've superimposed the blade from the "open" version over the closed version to give everyone a better idea.

Hrm I like the wharnies and how pinchable the blade looks but the handle looks a lit wonky, I might be in if I can catch one not sure yet though

This is my most common (and much too common imho) issue with GEC knives. I do file kicks on users, but I don’t feel I should have to risk blade rap (I don’t care about a low backspring, but it’s another possible side effect that many dislike) for the tip to not be catchable by a finger running along the blade well.

In my experience though, it’s much less common on straight edge blade shapes. And straight edged blades seem less likely to develop rap.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned, though I might have missed it, is that this knife looks like it will be pinchable. How many knives this small can you think of that are pinchable?

My 06 Pemberton. Straight edged knives tend to have better blades for pinching. The point rests in the same position as bellied blades for most GECs, which raises the spine up high out of the blade well.
