2020 GEC #23 Trapper Thread

Got notification that my LL Micarta shipped. Sadly I’ll be out of town this week so I won’t see it till Friday, whether it arrives earlier or not. These photos will have to do in the meantime.

I'm down for a mesquite as well. In online pictures, I've seen some really fine, well-figured mesquite, and some pretty plain jane stuff. Mike said, if I recall correctly, that he had a customer or friend provide him with the mesquite for this run. I'm sure it is hard to tell what it will be like before it is cut, if it came in large slabs.

Really wishing I wouldn't have missed the Kifer SFO...

I received a Micarta single blade 23 today..... It has noticeably different blade push/pull resistance than the Brazilian Cherry single blade I received Saturday.... This Micarta knife is easier to use than the Cherry one....

There are many possibilities why the differences exist.... The reason I mention it is to point out that not all knives in a run are the same..... And that stated values represent the sample knife and might not be representative of the run.... 20200713_181919.jpg 20200713_181856.jpg 20200713_181756.jpg 20200713_181843.jpg

I received the first of my LL 23s and wow,I love it. I only grabbed one of the 2 blades, the bullet variant, and the pull is stronger but by no means too heavy. Pull may actually may be perfect for me. I really do love this knife, it fits my hand comfortably, the fit and finish is 9 out of 10, I love the look of it and the pull and LL give it security for tougher chores. I was in agreement with previous assertions that the shield did not fit this knife, but, now that I have it in hand it does look good as it appears bigger in person than it did in the pictures and it makes a difference. Please forgive my pic as the pics on this thread makes mine look inadequate.

Everyone’s single blade LLs look great!

Is it pinchable after working out the swarf/polishing compound and cycling the pivot a few hundred times?

Not with my sausage fingers. There isn't enough blade to pinch outside of the handle.
