2020 GEC #23 Trapper Thread

M Mitt no thorns for me just way to many relatives and friends using Mesquite in their smokers, probably best I didn’t get a Mesquite 23, they probably would have wanted to use it :D. I had an old pier and beam cabin by the lake in Oklahoma where the piers were made from bois d’arc tree, real hard stuff.

Mesquite burns too hot for my liking. For me its oak (live or post), maybe pecan if I wanna get fancy. I have a small fixed blade a friend of mine made and he used bois d'arc for the pins.

A Christmas gift from my Brother-in-Law

Old Engineer Old Engineer Glad I saw your post as I had forgotten there were more coming. The LL version has become an absolute favorite to my surprise as I expected the two blade to be the one I'd favor. Anyway just ordered my LL Redtail and look forward to putting it to use.

They ought to do a delayed release like this on all models.

Or make the last “run” of the year into micro batch release. A handful they held out all dropped at the same time. The manufacture time they would have used on a different pattern would be spread out to accommodate the extra production. Just one version of the pattern thats not revealed until at least after the initial drop.

I was lucky enough to be browsing one dealer's website when these dropped. I think it's in my mailbox now. I'll post pics later today!
