2020 GEC #62 Easy Pocket Congress and Pocket Carver Thread

Unicorn ivory question for those that have them, is the scale consistent? I got mine in today and the scale seems to fade away if that makes sense? Photos hopefully explain it better.

No it is not consistent. Some scales show the matrix pretty clearly, but I've seen pics of some where you couldn't see it at all.

There's a lot of variance in it. But if you look at pictures of actual ivory, there can be lot of variation in that, too. My older #25 in unicorn acrylic has a more subtle crosshatch, and it's hard to photograph.

Thanks, I zoomed a little and I could make it out. That little bullet 25 is great. Your 62 pattern looks very similar to mine.

That hurt my feelings thinking about it. I would hope someone close would have a passion for it and you could pass it on intact. Sorry fellas.

Someday I need to have "the talk" with the Grandkids......... To wit: Beware of anyone with pointy toed shoes and pinky rings offering $10.00 each per GEC knife....

BF ought to set up a free "Widow(er) advisory group" of 2 -3 respected members that the deceased Knife Knut's spouse can get guidance from...... No one should ever exploit a grieving spouse.......

Thanks. I think the stuff they used on the 25s looks more like true ivory. I still like the 62, but the lines look more like liquid zigzags to me.

I just stuck the last 62 I bought in the "vault".... I have some duplicates and am missing a few...... I think I am going to pickup some of the missing ones and complete the set as time goes on....

I like the 2020 run very much..... All the knives have been of very high quality and nicely manufactured....... And I think there have been sufficient variety of covers to satisfy everyone from the stodgy curmudgeon to the tattoo laden hipster...

I think anyone wanting a smaller, high quality knife for purposes other than gutting the annual deer, they would be happy with a 2020 Easy Pocket or Pocket Carver....

Solid set of 62s there! I’m glad they offered as many covers as they did.

Mail call today! Got my blood red 62 today thanks to another BF member. Again surprised, because I didn’t think I’d care for this one much (like the ivory and natural linen carver) but it’s beautiful (like the ivory and natural linen carver). I love these little knives.

Two days in a row! Unexpected mail call. Got my 62 from Mike’s Knives. At this point I’ve given up on picking a favorite but I’ve still got a few more to find so we will see. Really like the black micarta, pull on the main is pretty light compared to my others. Might actually be the lightest. The last S is smudged? a bit. Contemplating the irony of buying a knife in the UK that was made 300 miles from my house...

Sounds like a challenge.... I’m going to have to gut a deer with my stag 62 this fall.

Heres my 62. I thought i wanted the blood red jigged bone but after all the pictures of the unicorn, i just had to.

The top of the shield side is completely void of any pattern. The top of the opposite side has a nice streaky pattern to it. I would be somewhat disappointed if both sides had the same consistent pattern to it.

I didn’t expect to like my blood red but it’s beautiful. A couple of the fellas had to talk me off the return ledge because my pattern wasn’t consistent, to quote a famous tv character, “I’m not crazy, my mother had me tested”.

Well I carved him with the PC. I'm just carrying the 29 today and I finished painting him.

This is just outstanding. You have talent sir! I need a pocket carver (and some lessons from you). Great work and thanks for sharing.
