Thanks Jordan@DLT for replacing my green camel with this fine blue example. Smears on the blade are factory oil.

Pile side is attractive too. Color scheme reminds me of original Mustang GT350s.

Because I am OCD about blade rub, I rarely buy knives that have blades that open from opposite ends. This one has no rub, great job GEC. An overhead look shows why. The pen blade is manufactured slightly krinked and has with an extra liner on the pile side that is removed from just inboard the tangs to provide clearance.

The extra liner is a little more visible from the bottom. Fit and finish is excellent, even under the scrutiny of my macro lens / DSLR.

Nice blue camel guys. I looked and DLT doesn't list them. Not as sold out; they're just not listed. You guys get early ones or something, or just a small run that was spoke for?

The Blue Camel Bones were a DLT SFO that sold out pretty quickly.

Well, the Easy Pocket Congress has to be my all-time Great Eastern Cutlery favorite. I absolutely love Wharncliffe blades and the pen blade is like a little spear. The design and build quality are first rate. I have three

The jigged bone, ivory and maroon micarta. Turns out I like DLT’s micarta the best. Smooth and dark with that leaf shield…

I like the other two, just not as much as the micarta one. I carry them all and use what I carry when the need arises.
I missed the banana/bone and don’t care for blue or the other with the bar shield. Don’t care for stag, so I guess I’m done. Great run, Great Eastern Cutlery.

Just when I thought I was done now I want another Stag and I’ve been fighting the temptation since last night clicking on the images over and over of the one I’ve got my sights on lol. What a great pattern with everyone I have being a great example including all blades centered and excellent fit and finish. That pretty much says it all about this 62 easy pocket run.
Absolutely love them and what’s funny is I never saw it coming !

Agree with the sentiment here. These 62's are an awesome pattern! I haven't chased multiples from GEC runs in a long time, but these I haven't been able to resist. Have these three and a Pocket Carver en route.

Extremely happy with all three. I was expecting some variation in quality between them, but they're all done really well!

I agree.... these are truly heirloom quality knives. I think my favorite GEC so far has been the 92 Eureka jack, but it's honestly almost a tossup between that one and this one. The 62 is likely to take top honors in the long run, because it has the two blade styles I think I need in a daily carry. A straight edge, either coping or wharncliffe (lambfoot is perfectly acceptable, but it's difficult to find in a two blade knife) and a pen blade.
I have 6 of the 62's, and the quality is the same in all 6. I expect it will be in the pocket carvers, as well.

Very satisfying outcome John, glad you got what you liked. Always been entirely pleased with the Intl. service I've had from DLT:thumbsup: As I wrote earlier, not really a fan of Blue knives myself (actually preferred your Sea Green initial knife :D) but that new one's certainly a lagoon of Blue.:D

Agree with you about the F&F, no compromises there, no rub at all, no play at all, decent W&T and gaps? I've yet to see them  Smooth shield inlet? Magic!

Thanks, Will

Great work - I think this is one of the more difficult captured projects. Cutting through end grain that way is a challenge.
Thank you. Do you know any websites for projects like this? Want more inspiration.

That type of project is called a “whimsey”. A google search will turn up thousands of them. They all follow similar ideas; captured pieces, moving parts, chains, knots, gears, hooks, rotating features... and sometimes long examples that combine all the ideas. These tend to be the types of carving I enjoy, and it usually gets the added benefit of the “wow!” Factor.

usually these items are done spontaneously with found wood and a pocket knife... so right up my alley.

I started an 11 link chain with my #48 Queen, which I’m finishing with my #62 PC GEC.

Can it still be called whittling if you use some type of saw to hog out the rough shape, then finish with a knife? Somehow, the "pseudo-purist" in me thinks that a whittling project should be done completely with the whittling knife, but some projects look to be almost impossible to do, without removing the bulk of the material with a power tool....

Mayonardo Mayonardo didnt you say the 92's and 86's were your favorites also?!

HEMI 49 HEMI 49 didnt you plan to just get one stag 62?

Jiki Jiki that kind of avant garde carving may fly in gay Paree, but getting caught with such carvings in USA and you could end up on a sex offender list!

I planned to buy zero 62's, so with six in the drawer, I feel pretty stable and in control.

I consider the Pocket Carvers a totally different knife, and my plan was to get two of those, so with 3 on the way, I believe I am in the self-control sweet spot.
