2020 GEC #62 Easy Pocket Congress and Pocket Carver Thread

Yes, I tried to rob a bank, but they told me I couldn't come inside... I had to use the drive-up window... :(

I have gone somewhat overboard with this pattern, as my wife would certainly tell me... probably rather vehemently ... but, I'm pretty sure there will be very few knife purchases the rest of this year. "Get it over with early on".....:D

showing my age.... I had to look up Ash Ketchum...

I wasn’t sure how a Pokémon reference would go over on a traditional knife forum, but all I could think of was the phrase “gotta catch them all” when I saw your #62 family photo. It was a thing when I was a kid, so it leaves that indelible mark.

It’s a gorgeous pattern- if the secondary was a small clip point and it wasn’t krinked on the EZ pocket I’d own one for sure.

if I was you I’d be making a wall mounted case for display and to store them when not in your pocket.

I have four Pocket Carvers in a P.O.Box in the U.S.A!! Twenty minutes away!! I cannot cross the border to get them!! Who knows how long it will be??:(
I live in Canada of course!!

that’s agony. I’ve been using mine all weekend and delighting in its masterful manufacturing. Covid-19 is ruining everything... stupid pandemic.

This is where I am with my own GEC pattern collecting, honestly. After the mail comes tomorrow, I'll respond to your amazing #62/PC shot with my own in its proper thread! :D

Live and learn.... I didn't realize you were Canadian... your "handle" should have been a clue, I suppose. Hopefully, this lockdown will end soon. It feels like the initial "panic phase" is winding down, as it should. Heck, there might even be toilet paper in the stores now. Guess I should go check.

If I made a wall mount, that would be like throwing gas on a fire... my wife would see it and go...:mad:

well, I've never watched any Pokemon, and it shows... I've certainly seen the Pikachu thing, and other stuff, but I never knew anything about them....
the "thing" when I was a kid was Captain Kangaroo, Tarzan, and Mighty Mouse... :D

Care to compare it to the white bone? Since it’s an F&F I’m assuming the spring might be stronger. Tell us your perception!
Actually no the springs and action are very similar. The F&F was a lot grittier however flushed out just fine. My F&F is thicker than my Tidioutes but not by much. All three so far have been winners.

Started this one Friday after work using a scrap of Douglas Fir 2x4 from my work bench build.
I wrapped it up this afternoon; it's a slightly unusual take on the ball-in-cage.
I remembered to weigh it before and after.
I only used the main blade on the #62 and removed 40% of the material.
(pardon the lack of Freedom units- grams is more precise on this scale.)

Wow, that is amazing EngrSorenson EngrSorenson .

waynorth waynorth your hostage knives sounds like the plot of a Bruce Willis movie!

“Die Hard Over The Edge”
John MacLaine must cross the polite Canadian boarder and storm the USPS tower to take back what’s rightfully his. He’ll really carve out a name for himself as he whittles away the forces of the maniacal United States Postal Service.

That’s really well done!

I am actually an American citizen hornetguy, but I married this beautiful Canadian Girl many decades ago!!:)
We are staying home like everyone else, but I can't wait to resume my regular trips across the border!!
Stay healthy every one!!

That's got to be torture, Charlie. :(
waynorth waynorth What a nightmare Charlie:eek::eek: Bad enough waiting for them but being unable to 'liberate' the captives, horror:( You might have to start tunnelling :D Or get somebody to throw them over the border and send in a Retriever dog, they're not under house arrest:thumbsup:

Believe me, I have conjured up and rejected all sorts of nefarious plots!!, Including tunneling!!:D
I talked to GEC the day before they closed, and paid for one to get sent across the border, but the "polite" Canada Customs is busy clearing Toilet paper shipments I guess!!:p No shipments visible yet!!
It once took me seven weeks to get a knife from Georgia!! (admittedly that was ten years ago!!) Now I have a U.S. PO Box, and clear everything by hand!! They are very good to me at the border coming back! Most border guards like to see what I have, so I proudly show them off!! But it's not a big commercial port or anything; it's between two small towns!!
I am old and at risk, healthwise, so it's self-isolation for me, until a vaccine is developed!!
Meanwhile I sure am enjoying all the collections and creative efforts
in this #62 thread!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
