2020 GEC #74 Mustang Thread

JTB_5 JTB_5 thanks for the perspective and reminder that the little things don’t really matter.

I was at the beach with my kids and wife today. Heard my phone beep, figured it was a text and ignored it because I was playing with my kids in the sand. Today’s memories will stay with me for the rest of my life, no pocket knife can compare to a day like today.

Though it does look like a very nice and functional pattern. The hunt is still on...

What Case knife is most similar to the 74?
I would guess the Sodbuster Jr... I don't have one, but I have a GEC 71, which should be about the same size. I have my 74 alongside the 71 and the Tribal Lock for comparison. They are all very much the same size knife...

I was driving when the beep occurred...... I didn't hear it, and by the time I knew that the announcement had been made, The Victors were swilling champagne and making room in their knife drawer for the forthcoming spoils......
So far I missed the 33 beep, the 35 beep and now the 74 ........ I guess I'm going to try integrating a dog shock collar to the Telegraph inbounds..... When CK says to "make your choices", the collar around my neck should get my attention.....
Thank you for the laugh!

I've got an ironwood on lock, probably going to pass on the rest. I have been getting the knives I needed lately, and the 74s are nice but....well, for reasons that aren't to be discussed on the Porch, they aren't my favorite. Congrats to the folks that got the ones they needed reserved!

These instant sell outs have taken the fun out of anticipating new GEC's for me. Even the exchange they sell within minutes if anything interesting and a reasonable asking... then there are the astronomically listed ones... so glad I was able to get my hands on the ones I have and am able to enjoy and admire.

Yes, me too.
I just hope that the frenzy will slow down some day and I can go back to casually buying knives again.
Until then, I'm happy with the ones I currently have and that's what's important to me.
I don't think the frenzy is going away anytime soon. So many folks have come to the table and GEC is but a small company producing what they can with what resources they have. If they changed their model of production, then they would not be what folks came to appreciate. Supply and demand. I hope they can do their thing for many years to come, it has been a wonderful ride following their growth.

Good to see good people happy with their lot in life, and smart people, it's like shopping at Christmas time, get there early, and get in and out before the madness, stress , and frenzy begins. ;) You all have a good week.:)

I'm with you guys. Taking a break from buying and enjoying the ones I've already got probably isn't the worst thing.

Being a Micarta nut, I am however looking forward to seeing photos of the brown burlap Micarta Tidoute. I think those will make for a nice daily carry type knife.
