2020 is coming...

I got one of the 4max scouts. My initial impression is it is great. the fit and finish on it is significantly better the italian made 4max I use to have. It came extremely well ground and is shaving sharp. The action on it is super smooth and locks up like a vault. I actually like the light texture on the griv ex scales better than the smooth g10 on the italian made 4 max. For the price I paid of $99 dollars after signing in and the discount code news through the cold steels website I would say it is a hell of a value.

Any release date on the Drop Forged Wasp?
I'm looking forward to this one!

I picked up the FGX version to get an idea of the proportions.
Very nice!
I think it'll be everything I always wanted the Gerber MkII to be.
Not surprising as I'm a big fan of the DF series anyway!

Thanks for all of the 4MAX Scout love guys! I'm sure you're going to love it. We weight tested it yesterday and sheared the grade 8 bolts off of our weight testing rig at 400lbs before the knife even flexed LOL.

Not sure of exact date yet unfortunately, but it shouldn't been too much longer. We're way ahead of schedule compared to prior years.

Just ordered one...couldn't resist the unique factor! Created an account and save $18 too!

So has the ltspecpro site gone away? Tried going there and the homepage would appear for a second, but then would be redirected to the CS site.
We are in the process of getting rid of LTSpecPro. It's the same pricing on both websites. The only difference is that the LTSpecPro website plainly shows the prices that you get when you log in to coldsteel.com. Too much maintenance to maintain three websites and all that comes along with it when it can be accomplished with two.

Three sites? What's the other one?

Just got my Kudu Lite.
It seems pretty nice with a half stop and fairly stout spring.
It is the exact same size as the ring lock one.

I am curious about the steel, I have read 5cr is a Far East version of 4116.
Over the years I have used a lot of CS 4116 and I think it’s a good steel for inexpensive knives.

Cold Steel should market the Kudu knives as integrals.
They are a single piece of grivory.

My Hudson Bay Hawk arrived today. I put it next to my Frontier Hawk for comparison.

Very cool ! My first CS hawk was the Frontier. I like the stout mass of the H.B., looks like a fun user. I sawed the back off a Rifleman several years back then ground it to clean it up. That thing has real chopping mass! I found a real belt axe head while metal detecting a 1780's fur trade site. And I tend to lean toward historic or close to it, designs. We all do our mods, but this has worked many years for me..... Loosen set screw, remove head. Sand off varnish if any present. Figure out what needs to be sanded or modified for a snugger shaft/eye fit. Soak shaft with boiled linseed oil, give it time to absorb, give it one more thin wipe of oil many days later if shaft sucked it right in, now stop or you get a saturated non drying gummy mess. After fully dried slather a lot of clear liquid silicone rubber on the shaft roughly where head will finally sit. Slam head on using uncommon sense, Torque in set screw, slather in more clear liquid rubber manipulating it into cracks between shaft and head eye. Wipe off excess and clean it up. Leave it in a warm closet for a week or so to fully cure. My CS hawks were done like this years ago and are still rock solid zero wiggle years later. And yes I have used them for lighter wood processing, but nowhere near as much as my axes. I love the lighter weight and smaller size of hawks, while still being useful tools. Thanks for posting the pics buddy.

Scout arrived today, an impressive handful to say the least. Initial reactions are smooth action, nice grind lines, solid lock up, clip very tight, well made overall. Don’t know if I will EDC this beast too often, but it will be a nice companion on field days.
