2020 Northwoods Indian River Jack Thread

It’ll be interesting to see if their site can handle the traffic, with the game time being pre determined.
Game time has been pre-determined on these Northwoods for many years now. Their site is one of the best.

I love the standard crescent nail nick on these! So glad they went with the basic trim!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’m going to try my luck one last time. It looks great without the saber grind. Now hopefully there will be a wood option.

I agree. I would have liked to see a long pull though. The Queen produced jacks had them, as did the Beer & Sausage knives.
True. I actually like the nail nick on the micarta pictured, but do see your point. I wonder if there will be any other handle materials.

I’m getting anxious already. Any teasers of covers out there?

I should probably drink less coffee. That doesn’t help the situation...

It's fun to see what's coming out, fun to try and fight through a frenzy to see if you get one, fun to see the photos from everyone who was able to get one, and fun to read comments from everyone who missed out. I always find these drops amusing in all aspects.

I meant retail. The NW version of GEC patterns always seem to cost considerably more than the GEC version.

Well, to once again mention M&G, these will start at less than they ran. Someone else said that the Northwoods will start at $129.95. Not bad.

Looks like a beautiful knife.
I'll be sitting this one out as usual.
Can't wait to see everybody's pictures though.

they are usually 129 to 189 depending on cover material.

I am sad they dont have the saber grind blade, but I am sure they will be nicely made.

I only have one Northwoods, the Heritage Jack, and it came to about $140 retail. If you compare it to the barehead #86 configuration, with all of its bells and whistles, that we used on our forum knife (at a discounted price), I think the Northwoods was only marked up about 20 bucks.

Looks like the other covers are camel bone, giraffe bone, kudu, and mammoth ivory.

Looks like their standard fare - nothing wrong with it but none of that tempts me like sawcut bone, stag, and various woods do.

I'll be interested in seeing all the variety in the camel and giraffe bone - those two (particularly the giraffe) always end up being pretty interesting.

I would have loved to have seen some interesting wood covers. I'll try for one - not sure which one - because I love the frame. I guess I won't shed too many tears if I miss out - which usually happens on NW drops for me.

I wonder what they'll do next if GEC sticks to their no SFO stance in 2021.

I am pretty excited with those covers. I wish it had the saber grind but whatever.

Now for the anxiety of finding one I like, then trying to click “complete order” before the next guy. Followed by a down when I see the no more inventory message. Then lastly saying, oh well, on to the next knife.

Almost guaranteed to not get one, but can't help but make myself try...
Last time I had any luck buying a GEC from a vendor on a drop was Smith and Sons Mudbug almost two years ago!

I would have loved to have seen some interesting wood covers.
I agree, this pattern would look great in some darker wood. I like the kudu bone but will try for a giraffe bone if any of them have that smoky grey color I’ve seen on past north woods.
