I do wish there was a wood option. I’m always a sucker for micarta, though, so I may try for one of those. On the other hand, the mammoth ivory sounds interesting. I wonder how much that one will cost.

Just got the email about the other covers. I bet some of you are tempted now.
Not sure how I feel on this one. I usually go for wood or micarta (but I hate red). I have no experience with camel, kudu or the mammoth. Are those materials suitable for a user or will I have to worry about it breaking?
I believe the kudu is stabilized. But there are lots of knives made out of camel, giraffe and Ivory. I've never heard of any of them being unsuitable for knives. If course, if you drop them, any of them could crack, but I've dropped mammoth and camel and no cracks. Of course, there's no guarantee. Not sure how I feel on this one. Although, it's true that these Indian Rivers are made by GEC, I don't know that this picture is proof of it. The M&Gs had the same blades. There was a photo of the blade on the GEC website that popped up before the Beer & Sausage knives came out, so yes they are from GEC.
Here’s the photo, I had it saved on my phone from July 31st:

At any rate, it's clear that these are the GEC #35 frame and if you ask KSF, they will confirm. They don't hide the fact that GEC is making these. Also, who else would be making them? Case??Rough Ryder??
The timing with covid should not perplex you. GEC has clearly been up and running since COVID-19 and for a couple of years now, GEC has produced Northwoods with no hint that they are doing so...other than a little bit longer pause on the same picture on their blog.
That is the northwoods tang stamps on the front and USA on the back. Nice save !
Not too excited about these, they just look like a regular GEC run with the NW shield. I do like the look of the kudu though, so I might try for that. But will likely save my money for the next knife.
