2020 OKCA Show

Just talked to a friend who lives just North of Portland on the Washington side of the river, but who listens to the Portland news at 0600. Reportedly the Governor of Oregon has lowered the number of people who can be in gathering from 250 to 50 people, and some experts are saying even that is too many people. John

Well, the news just keeps getting worse. :(
I've been biding my tongue and hopefully the news would get better.... but no.
I haven't cancelled my motel reservation yet but it doesn't look good at this point.
Such a shame, this was going to be a year to remember and now we can only hope for next year:(:(:(

I guess it's not looking good but hopefully it will still be a go for you guys. I was planning on attending the Lehigh Valley Knife Show on 4/18 & 4/19 but I got an email last night that it was cancelled. The one on 9/26 & 9/27 is still on, so I'll have to wait until then.

Dennis was smart to wait for the news from above!!
I hope everyone leaves their deposits with the club! It is quite a blow to a non-profit to lose its main source of sustenance!:(
We will rock the rafters next year!!!:D

I was planning on joining and paying fees before the show. I will still do so and pay again next year. Such a shame but understandable at this time.

Now I will have to shift focus and try to make the rendezvous a reality this year :) ....... still cant wait for Oregon 2021!

From Dennis just now:

It was rough missing it this year. I am really looking forward to next year. The knife show is definitely a high point of the year for me.

Blade West was just cancelled as Oregon's Governor has set a limit of no more than 250 people in a gathering until a vaccine for the virus is found. That does not bode well for the 2021 OKC. John

I used to say stuff like this and called them 'facts,' but my wife has gradually convinced me that they are actually opinions. Here is one: "Anytime you have two or three people in a normal size room and one of them has the novel virus, and they are talking and moving around and they have masks, the virus has just jumped. The recommendations of 12 or 42 or 250 people as limits to gatherings is idiotic and nothing more than trying to keep things going to save the economy. Probably good advice as we do indeed have to keep the economy going, but for me to rely on these recommendations to keep my health and my life would be foolhardy at best. The Oregon show would be a dream trip for me, but I fear for the great people that I have met here and we are not done with this little problem yet and probably won't be for some years." There you have my opinion. -Cal Pruett.

I, too, think ANY size group is too risky; especially for an oldster like me. I'm over 75 years, so I will continue to be a hermit for a while!!
One person unknowingly spreading virus (without symptoms) can infect any and ALL in a group!!
