2021 #85 Crown Lifter

This one came in yesterday. My dead skunk is extra bloody. :D Personally, I like the amount of red in it, and the pile side (which I forgot to photograph) is well matched.

The pull on the caplifter is maybe a bit stronger than a Beer Scout, but not at all difficult to open. F&F is great, and both blades are nice and snappy.

I haven’t had a chance to lift any caps yet, but I feel like a bottle of Mexican Coke is a fitting choice for this knife.

Cool! That's one of the nicest dead skunks I've seen.

First dead skunk I’ve ever owned, mistake on my part. The way the red seems to float above the smoky white with the thin black separate line is really cool in person. Has dimension. The bone is beautiful ... dark red, slight texture makes it awesome in hand, fit and finish custom level (better than some), beautiful, wow. Killer job GEC. The micarta might hold up better in use but I prefer the high polished bolsters / shield. As far as pull, after closely looking at the springs and tangs they appear to be the same size / dimension for both the main and caplifter. The pull is a nice 6 on the main and is probably the same on the caplifter except the secondary nick is closer to the pivot and lower to the cover than the main long pull. Additionally the main is pinchable towards the end. Personally have zero use for a crown lifter, but a screw driver is a handy tool and might prevent someone from snapping the main (I've done it). Hope you enjoy the pics.

I think I’ll stop at two. :D

I traded for the Micarta, so I got it after the Dead Skunk. Great F&F on it as well, a bit stronger pull on the caplifter but it doesn’t give me any trouble, and it’s super snappy!

My cherry bone arrived much earlier than expected. Very pleased with this one, no gaps whatsoever, snappy as I expected, perfectly centered, and not too light on the edges for my tastes. 20210317_170823_copy_612x816.jpg 20210317_170909_copy_612x816.jpg
Something else i noticed is how well the swedge is executed. Very precise, although my pics dont show it i now see..

I'd say my favorite is the Micarta, it looks so nice on that pattern.
I might have been tempted if it wasn't for the shield, which I don't car for as much.

:D I like that it is cherry coke'esque shield. It goes well with the dead skunk lol.

That cheery wood though....wow

I’m surprised how perfect the action is on these. I like strong snap at all the positions and this one has it. The pull is definitely stronger than the average patterns GEC has been putting out lately. For example, I thought all 4 of the recent 15’s that I’ve handled were nice, but a little weak on the close, not terrible, but a tad weak. Not so on these 85’s. Bravo GEC.

My dead skunk showed up yesterday, thanks to an awesome member who sold it at retail. This thing is awesome!!!

Snappy, great walk n talk and the acrylic is really cool. First acrylic knife in my collection.

I got the cherry bone in today and wow it is nice. I wasn’t so sure about the natural bone but I like the inconsistent feel of the handle.
The blade pulls are great and I can actually open lifter. I must now admit- my cap lifter on my micarta is a steel trap and my trick that I used before to ease the spring did not work. Very disappointing for me as I cannot open it without using a tool.
