I've noticed the pivot pins are smoothed out on this run, that's nice.
I've noticed that too!

Also noticed the liners seem to be finished differently somehow. Could just be my perception but my older ones ( I had a variety) I remember having a sharp transition at the steel liner into the blade well. Sharp 90 degrees at that point.

When I gripped down on the handle (hard) it would almost pinch the skin of my fingers into the blade well. Doesn't happen with these! Much more comfortable.

The 71s are what started the GEC itch for me several years ago. I'm glad to have one back. 😊 This one will get the proper use and carry just like it was destined for.

Got a 71 from the 2017 run today. Fantastic knife. Will make a good work knife if it gets the chance haha.

They certainly used to be.

They were still very reasonably priced (from some dealers). 🙄 😉

I like the yellow paracord, looks good. (At least I think that’s yellow; could be a light orange?)

Would appreciate comparison photos of the current green micarta next to an older green micarta version. Curious to see if there is as significant difference in color as there is with red…

I got my 71 and sharpened it up on my blitz and I’ve been putting it to use in the garden, but boy it does have a strong pull and keeps ripping my nail. Love the knife. Does the pull weight lessen over time out of curiosity?

I doubt it will lessen. But with use it will smoothen out and that in itself will make it easier and more enjoyable to open. Keep flushing the joint every so often and that should help a bit too. 👍🏼

Thanks for the replies. I actually don’t mind the strong pull actually I just don’t like how it tears my nail up and I have to grab a nail file every time.
After the patina gets going you should be able to just pinch it open and save your nails.
