2021 GEC #71 Bull Nose

Here are mine, 2021 and 2015, both (allegedly) in Red Linen Micarta.

The 2015 is like-new, hasn’t been carried. I hesitated when reserving one of these, because I already had a Red Linen Micarta Bull Nose, but the difference in color is so significant that, as others have already pointed out, it’s like a completely different cover. (Also, you can never have enough #71’s , and I figured if they had ended up looking the same, I could always have one recovered.)

Fit and finish on the 2021 are as expected, i.e. comparable to my other #71’s.

My newest GEC purchase next to my very first GEC purchase - got them both from the same "dealer" (thank you CK). 20+ knifes later, is it too late? Looking for threads on rehab/addiction.

The vibrant red is a nice change but man that burgundy maroonish looking one is the bees knees!

Yeah, prior to this run, it seemed like GEC’s “maroon” and “red” linen micartas were often that same darker-colored material, with no rhyme or reason behind why they’d call it one versus the other.

I double checked the tube cap for my 2015 before posting to make sure it was red and not maroon. Even so, your post made me briefly second guess myself and go check GEC’s production totals, which led to even more confusion as I couldn’t find a red or maroon #71 listed under Farm & Field for 2015. (I did find it in the end; I forgot it was an SFO for KSF, so it was listed separately under the SFO’s.)

My red one came in today, no play, perfectly centered, nice snap, and the spring is nice and flush in both the open and closed position, no gaps either. Aside from oiling the blade, does the micarta need any maintenance? I like the color, but would love to see it darken over time with use.

I'm loving my new red 71. Really glad I scored one. Haven't had a chance to take pics yet, but will report back when I do. Really nice strong pull and snap on mine. Came pretty sharp too.

If I'm able to score a green 71, I'll definitely do it. I have one of the earlier runs, so I'll be curious to see if it's the same way with those as these red examples, wherein the new 2021 release is brighter than the old runs.

Unlike the red versions, the green has been pretty consistent through the years, but you never know!

Thank for the photo, now I can't wait to get my pair.
The red seems to kinda have an urban vibe to it whereas the green stays true to the Farm and Field.

I had a 2017 red 71, and I remember it starting as a RED red which I liked because I am a Cardinals fan. Being that it is micarta it darkened considerably over time. Because of that it fell out of favor with me and I kept the natural canvas micarta.

I wasnt planning on purchasing one but just happened to be looking at my email when KSF put them up so gave it a shot. I'm very impressed with how solid this thing is, action is great, put a mirror edge on it and now im gonna beat the **** out of it in the yard.
