2022 Bcci 112 fixed blade Sunday at high noon est....

knife came today and haven't had time to coonfinger it much. there's a couple cracks but you can barely nick them with a fingernail and they are not deep. hopefully it doesn't get worse but I doubt this one sees use anyway. scales are symmetrical and feels great in hand

I like all kinds of elk from no bark to lots of it. those two are extreme opposites, from about no bark to all bark. both gorgeous in their own way.

Yeah always a gamble with natural materials. I was a bit let down because of the cracks at first but it’s passed now. I got the new member special 😂

I'll be honest that was my first thought...the new member special.........but I doubt Tim was opening and separating based on member age.😁

Overall, I am generally pleased with the 152. The scales on mine are a bit underwhelming compared to many of the beautiful examples shown here, but they will do just fine, I think.

One slightly bothersome thing is that, on both sides of the handle about halfway up from the end, there appears to be a very slight hairline crack. In reality, they are more in the nature of superficial scratches (since the elk scales are quite thick). I'm a bit bothered by this -- although the one on the pile side appears to be more natural -- but, it's probably something I won't notice over time, and it's not enough to fire me up to return it. Love the sheath, love the brass bolsters, and the overall look. It's a nice effort from Buck.

I usually avoid knives that contain animal parts in the components (except for a leather sheath) but I decided that the 152 was too rare to pass up.

This beauty is waiting for me when we head to California in December...

nice there Jeff.

glad ya got one. see ya got a couple new ones scattered in different forum posts ya got recently...or will get in Cali in December.

no animal parts cause ya dont like them or?

not for a don't want to harm animal reason? cause pretty sure these antlers are shed naturally, and this isn't from hunting...

pretty sure I saw where Buck buys indirectly from gathers that wander and collect shed antlers and sell them to a place that sells to elk antler users....

I have always tried to avoid products that could possibly result in the illegal harvest of animals. I would sleep better at night knowing that Buck guarantees their products come from sheds.

gotcha.

being completely honest i remember reading that somewhere but that doesn't mean I remember it correctly.....or if I did remember it correctly that things haven't changed.........

I would hope its all above board ethically......I would think or hope so since their ebony wood was a deal cut to be be all legal and above board.....
