2022 GEC #81 Coon Skinner

This particular version turned out very strange looking, to my taste. It is surely interesting to see a textured acrylic, but still.
I'll be curious to see how it looks in the sunlight. The cool factor with Coffee House Acrylic is how it gives off a glow almost like fiber optics in the sun. Since it is not very opaque, you can also see shadows of the shield and pins which adds to the 3D effect, so to speak. Not my cup of tea for something to carry and use...but definitely cool to look at :)

The sun was in the foreground of this pic and produced a cool glow effect.

It is a strange material like Darren mentioned. I don’t think a person can say much until you have one in hand. It’s a difficult material to photograph, generally losing its depth. Be interesting to see how the “textured” acrylic looks in hand and what peoples impressions will be. Might be like the red onion micarta and be a love or hate thing.

Indeed, every acrylic should be seen in person first, then rated. But that one is not my choice, I think. Corset, being a bit vulgar itself, also seems to give a vulgar meaning to the whole knife with such color of covers. 🤷‍♂️ And Coon Skinner is a strange pattern to be vulgar, would fit French Kate more. 😀

And wow, fist time I see Risner's SFO. Pretty cool!

The only thing I don't like about the Red Onion micarta version is the word "onion", just don't like the association. Overall it is now my number one choice, even though colors are pretty weird. 😜 Just need to see assembled Yellow Rose to make a final choice. Because Snakewood is not likely to overcome the other variations in my mind.

Looks like the fine folks at GEC knocked it outa' the park once again. I think the muscrat is one of those love 'em or hate them patterns. I have a couple and when carried what I like is I don't worry about how it comes out of the pocket, I just open the blade facing me and use it.

81 Coon Skinner, Red Onion Micarta received today..... This is a sleeper, IMO..... One pile side easy open notch....... One spring...... Two different cutting approach angles..... Great ergonomics......5 star construction......

Here are some low light, 1/2 star photos...... Better pics are forthcoming......

These all look hideous. Stay away guys… until I score one for myself. I really wish they would show us the snakewood shield already. It will be anticlimactic if it’s just the standard cloud though.
