2022 GEC Bayou Trapper #88 Thread

So are these going up for sale?
I’ve been checking all recommended distributors form the gec site every morning for a couple weeks, and nothing…
still says “in production” on the gec site. haven’t seen anything available or even out of stock aside from blade hq …but I see a few being scored here, and on social media… how am I missing the boat?
Anyone know a release date, and/or what direction to look in?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance BF
Lots of information on this in the Feedback subforum of the Exchange (where the conversation belongs).

I hate being the bearer of bad news...
Checking sites is never going to get you one, unless you are darned lucky.
GEC knives don't stay on the shelves long enough for anybody to see them past the first two minutes.
You can sign up with the dealers for email notifications, but even that doesn't work worth a darn if you have a life and can't monitor them ever second.

Unfortunately, true dat (as we say in the Bayou)…😛

I inkmachine77 , if you haven’t received any insight from other porch regulars about this shoot me a PM and I’ll share what I know.

Black and white are my two least favoured colours, so it's all about the Northfield versions for me this time, which is a pity because I generally prefer the more utilitarian feel of the Tidioutes.
Ebony is fine because it's a brownish kind of off-black, and Smooth White Bone is good because it's more cream than white, but the pure black of the micarta and the pure white of the acrylic on the Tidioutes just aren't my thing. Such is personal taste - de gustibus non est disputandum.
Normally I’d agree with what you said but my gosh after getting an ace in hand, I can confidently say they did such a fantastic job with it. The black linen Micarta with the polished bolsters and shield just look real classy, really happy with mine. I’m going to wait to see how the jigged bone turns out before throwing mine in my pocket and getting a patina going.

What is the difference between serpentine and dog leg? Serious question.
Definition of serpentine:
winding or turning one way and another, a serpentine road.
b : having a compound curve whose central curve is convex. serpentine.

They haven't sent out all the Yeti's yet. They got sidetracked with a couple club knives. More yet's will ship Wednesday, and they may send a small shipment of the IW's with them. If not, they will ship the first batch Friday.

Keep in mind they don't send out the full quantity of each version at once. It's usually split between 2-4 shipments. Some dealers parse them out as they get them, others wait until they get them all.

Don't take it for granted that someone is all out just because you missed on a single drop, There may be more to come. Sign up for all the dealers drops and be ready. Some of the bigger ones drop them all at once. I can't name them here, but call to inquire how they do their drops. Some may even tell you when they anticipate doing them. Cover all your bases. As one of our beloved forum members used to say, "Buying GEC"s is war!" Arm yourself.

Your prediction was spot on, based on today’s cover change on the GEC website.

Well, I guess unless someone is fortunate enough to slide in with one of the couple MAP dealers left, MSRP on the IW is $ 196.09. They're sure getting up there. I know their material prices are rising too, and they paid a premium for that ironwood.
They sure came out beautiful though. There are some real stunners in the bunch. So I guess next week will be the long anticipated green bone gator.;)

Ouch! That stings a lot for a knife. Imagine secondary prices.

I just scored a yeti 88 for about $150 with my favorite dealer. Happy that I have the best luck with random drops from them since they're usually the least expensive.

Been waiting a long time for a sow belly pattern from GEC and they did not disappoint! No complaint, but, I did see a few posts stating that this should have been done in Ebony wood instead of Micarta. I love micarta, but, for once I agree especially if they had more of the ebony from the Elephant Toe run. Overall love this pattern and I must say that this is probably the best pull, walk, and talk of any GEC I own. My Lloyd now has brother.
