2022 GEC Cattle Knife/Camp Knife #35 Thread

I see the notched screwdriver in the historical photos, anyone know if it would have a practical use today?

There is a short run of Waynorth Tidioutes coming out!
Bill is making me a run of 100, for providing some antique utility knives for him to study over the years! (Please don't contact me!!) Of course I can only send a few out to my dealers, so they will be hard to get. I have already presold them, with apologies to all who will have trouble getting one - the trouble with a short run is distributing them fairly - probably impossible!! A dilemma with no equitable answer!! :rolleyes:View attachment 1895064

Nice to see the Waynorth flag fly again! but no waynorth tang stamp?!

Got my Cattle knife last week and unfortunately was not happy with the mark side cover. I believe this knife should have been a store knife.
I have sent it to GEC for replacement although I'm having to pay shipping both ways.

Won't mention the dealer I got it from but they said to contact GEC. I think that the bone cracked off after the shield was attached and then ground down to smooth it out. I don't think it was a natural low spot in the bone, if it was surely they would have used it on the pile side. I don't think it should have ever made to dealer especially for a $200 knife not acceptable IMO.

I'm glad that GEC is willing to replace it but not happy about the added cost of an already expensive knife.

They should pay the postage.

This is just too nice not to post again. I am not feeling very lucky about my chances of getting one, but I'm going to try. Hopefully Charlie will be posting a lot of his own pictures to tide us over :-D

Got a camp in hand today. Very favorable first impressions. Strong pulls, but not a nail breaker. The can opener pull is a bit more stout than the others, exactly the way I remember my old long gone camp knifes of my youth. Not experiencing any rub. Not even a hint of gap in the back spring. Seems to be made just as well as the Cattle Knife.

And I dig the tube art.

Wow you lucky man,who is Johnny on the Spot (besides me sometimes of course). 😁

I have never owned a GEC knife, and decided “I gotta get me one of dem dere cattle knives”
Waited at the drop, added to cart at 1 second after it dropped, before I could complete the checkout they were sold out 🙄
That is ridiculous, I’m not sure what GEC’s business model is but they are definitely NOT making enough, and all the profits seem to be made on the secondary market, so it would seem to me they are losing out.
