2022 GEC Cattle Knife/Camp Knife #35 Thread

my eyes aren't the greatest looks like 2 springs but hard to tell
I'm not an expert but I don't think traditionally a cattle knife is 3 springs
Personally I would like to see GEC make one of these 35s with a punch instead of a spey
Based on the tent in the hint photo, my guess is there is a camp knife coming which would likely mean a punch blade.

Hahaha, that's exactly what I was up against- like either the spey has a spacer on the other side or we're actually seeing the other end of a 3rd spring.

Someone more knowledgeable than myself should comment, but isn't a Cattle knife traditionally three springs?
Most Cattle knives I have seen (hundreds) have 2 springs!!

This is a nice surprise, long pull Spear, What's not to like? (apart from the difficulty in getting one...)

Can't find details of other options for scales or the Northfield versions? o_O

Really excited for this run, as is everyone else. Not sure if anyone else noticed but there was a picture of a different jigging pattern on the website in the photos. When it was pointed out on FB, they took the pic off. It was a very dark color, dark blue/black jigged with similar jigging the the gator 88’s or 49 red jig bone.

We may never overcome the whimsy with which the marketing departments label their Cattle and Stockman knives!
Keep in mind that these are traditional terms, not technical, scientific definitions.

Well from what I've found, the verdict seems to be that a meaningful distinction might not be feasible.

For the most part, Cattle knives are equal-end knives with three blades. They are reputed to precede the more graceful Stockman, although often filling the same role in usage. Levine's Guide number IV has an in depth multi-page description, and it makes good reading, and clears up a lot of the terms used!! Highly recommended!! Starts on page 284 and has lots of pictures!!
Also, this.

I don't recall them using the propeller with the Tidioute stamp...has that been done before?
