I admit to having weak nails. That's actually why I started carrying a pocketknife when I was a kid. I couldn't seem to scrape and pry with my nails like the other girls could. Gives me the shivers just thinking about my thumbnail bending back.

This discussion reminded me of what I did back then when a blade sat too low for my wimpy thumbnail. I just made a shim out of a bit of wood, and it seems to be working for now.
I was helping a friend clean out their deceased mother's house, when we came upon her Girl Scout knife, just like this one, rusted, and with her childhood signature on a piece of crumbling tape. I restored the knife, electrolytically etched her signature into the blade, and presented it in a GEC tube with the original signature inlaid on the side. Well, it was a case I picked up in the same giveaway that I put my big un in, so I guess it was meant to be for someone else to get it. I was a little miffed because I had taken it the day before and they didn't find it.
When did the camp / tool knife drop? I bought them last week on eBay because I couldn’t find them at dealers!
