2022 Lick Creek Barlow #14 thread

Oh that is awesome. Forced or natural patina? Looks great! Just curious.
Naturally forced 😆. Natural, but most of my cutting with this guy is food so it happens quickly and is very intentional. However, this blade seems to be taking the patina much quicker than most of my others. Loving it too.
The clip on the 14 with the swedge and long pull is visually my favorite of all blade shapes. I’m sure plenty of clips work just as well, but the aesthetics are simply perfect to my eyes.
Like wise. The clip on the 86 is probably my favorite and this is a close second if not tied - probably because they are so similar.

Final count adjusted for rendezvous sfa and some ebony book ends

I thought the process for creating the bolsters had changed and led to the polished non black TC markings and lines on the bolsters. The satin Lyle Fry examples however appear to still have ‘filled in’ TCs and lines. I wonder whether the process for manufacturing the bolster for Lyle’s examples was different? can anyone confirm?

very nice indeed, from the darker bunch so far it seems. as much as i kid about it, and even with Bill, cocobolo(a) has quite some variation. even going back to the 15s where some of em came in like a half mixed color.

I usually put some wood conditioner on mine and never noticed them getting any darker. But you’d think it would make it darker. Either way I’m along for the ride and enjoying every minute of 😁
What a wonderful knife !

Is there a good/suggested way to darken the cocobolo wood? Or should I let it darken over time?

The oils from your hands will naturally darken the covers over time, if you want to speed that up rub in a light application of mineral oil or something similar.
