OK; Thanks!!Yes, it creates a chemical reaction patina.
Might just leave it as is! Not sure if I’ll ever use it, it’s so tiny! I haven’t even used any of my 15 Barlow’s yet but I have used my huckleberry boys knife. Might just turn my Osage wood Barlow into a user nextYou could start using it, plenty of sweat, oils and dirt'll colour it in nicelyLooks a handsome example as it is.
However, yes I think a thin permanent ink pen with fine tip will do the trick, wipe off any smudges immediately and let dry in the air.
Tidy looking bone on that one
Thanks, Will
Charlie has discussed this before:Speaking about soup bone, can anyone explain why is it called like that? And why it has such groves, is it like inside channel of the bone cut in half lengthwise? Where did it came from? I don't remember any old traditionals with such bone
Love Osage. Wood with history.Might just leave it as is! Not sure if I’ll ever use it, it’s so tiny! I haven’t even used any of my 15 Barlow’s yet but I have used my huckleberry boys knife. Might just turn my Osage wood Barlow into a user next
Would like to see a picture of that Osage Barlow, if you would oblige us.Might just leave it as is! Not sure if I’ll ever use it, it’s so tiny! I haven’t even used any of my 15 Barlow’s yet but I have used my huckleberry boys knife. Might just turn my Osage wood Barlow into a user next

It’s too dark to take it out and snap a new pic for you now but here’s an older photo of it alongside the others from that run. In hindsight I regret not going after the glitter gold to complete my set because I had an opportunity to grab one but didn’t because my girlfriend didn’t want it and I didn’t really want a glitter gold either lol. Hindsight is always 20/20. The Osage is the one I really wanted from that run so it might be turned into a user next, my only gripe is the spear blade, not the biggest fan. I think we’re long overdue for some Wharncliffe Barlow’s!!Would like to see a picture of that Osage Barlow, if you would oblige us.
I would love to hear the history on it if you’d like to share Pete!Love Osage. Wood with history.
Man, big thanks for the tip! Was also interesting to know that soup bone is actually a marrow bone.Charlie has discussed this before:
Lets talk GEC!
What is GEC production like these days? All my normal sites are Out Of Stock. They make ‘em, they sell ‘em. None of them really stay in stock anymore (except the Remington #73, those are still available).www.bladeforums.com
Sure, Pete. Osage was used by native Americans for their Bows. As an archeology nut, I think that is groovy. Also used as a hedgerow by settlers as they moved West.I would love to hear the history on it if you’d like to share Pete!
I don't blame you, it's fantastic! The Osage is the one I really wanted
Spear blades aren't my favorite either, but they do look amazing... very traditional looking.my only gripe is the spear blade, not the biggest fan.
That would be interesting, you don't see many Wharncliffe Barlows... I'd have to think about that combo for a while.I think we’re long overdue for some Wharncliffe Barlow’s!!
One sold on the exchange recently. That would be interesting, you don't see many Wharncliffe Barlows... I'd have to think about that combo for a while.
