2024 Great Eastern GEC # 62 Pocket Carver # 620324

Has anyone noticed any quality issues with the farm and field pocket carvers? The gritty action is one thing, it can be flushed, and I assume that will also fix the issue of them (little blades)not snapping closed, but the blade play on the little blades is sort of annoying. I am hoping thr Bone is better.

I can tell you one thing, if mine show up with any blade play, they will be sent directly back to the dealer to be sold to someone who puts up with that sort of nonsense.

Of course, I've never gotten a GEC (out of dozens or more) that had any blade play, so I'm not very worried.

I rarely use the secondaries, it's entirely possible I wouldn't even notice.
Same... I sure didn't notice anything. Knife seemed fine to me.

It cuts stuff and looks pretty cool while doing it.

Excited to nab one of these … wish it were a banana, but will take the maple richlite.

The Pocket Carver is one of my all time favorite GEC knives, and my favorite whittler. The last time, I found myself wishing that they had been produced in more bone colors than white and the rare goldenrod. I am gonna grab rotten and green banana versions for sure! I love to see an ebony or ironwood as well.

I haven't seen a thread for these yet, but my Maple Valley Richlite Farm & Field came in yesterday! Long shot, but I'm also interested in picking up one of the Rotten Banana Bone versions - I guess we'll see if I'm fast enough!

Let's discuss!

Here's the Farm & Field in Maple Valley Richlite - and no, I did not carve the wizard - although I wish I had! I've heard these covers compared to everything from pan-seared bratwurst to diseased fingers, but I think the closest approximation is the Moldy Cheese/Caramel Corn-flavored Jelly Belly® jelly beans! Not everyone's cup of tea, but I consider myself a connoisseur of "ugly" knives and am quite happy to have this example in my hoard:

See what I mean??!

Got any? Skipping this run? Thoughts? Let's hear it!
Is it weird this made me like it? Haha I wasn't a fan of it before but the comparison to a jelly bean changes everything.

Can’t complain about availability so far. Even greens are still sitting out there.

Just paid my invoice for a smooth green banana bone. Should be here mid week. If there’s any Porch regular who’d be interested in an orange one at a Porch friendly price shoot me a PM. And I mean less than Fleabay and the ones I have recently seen on the Exchange.

A bit disappointed with my carver. The front rear scales do not match whatsoever. One side looks like the jelly bean and the other has no character at all, just a solid urp brown. Bummer.

I would just used the crap out of it and let it build some character.
