2025 77 barlows

I received the red sawcut today as well and I have to say I am pretty deflated. I waited a looong time to get a 77, being unwilling to pay the secondary prices... The walk and talk on the main is okay (I'd give it a 4 on receipt and a 5 after flushing). The pen is just terrible. Lazy to the half stop; worse still half stop to open (total mush). It really reminds me of my little Case pen knife, which I love for what it is but this is a GEC 77 Barlow for Pete's sake... I've put a fair bit of mineral oil through both and while some improvement I'm just, well, massively disappointed. I know, "boo hoo", but dang...

Sorry to hear that. Have you contacted Mike about it ?

Great color on that one!

Beautiful Steve! 😍

Nice dark red. Congrats.

Thanks guys. I have to admit that it didn't come that way. It was a bit lighter than I was hoping for and white near the bolsters. I decided to dye it with Fiebings Mahogany leather dye. I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

The grinds on the blades are they best I've ever gotten from GEC, very sharp right out of the tube. 👍

No sir but I assume the limited run means no spares, and the seemingly common occurrence makes me inclined not to take his time. I’m considering sending for a blade delete or might sale/trade.
Last time I inquired with him, it’s either return for reimbursement or contact GEC directly.

yes, delete!! i didnt have the heart to delete the desert ironwood i got that year, but would love to see single clip barlow again

It is a nice one, thanks Jack. I've received 6 or so 77's and all have been fine for me, 5 to 6 on the pulls and snappy.

i lucked out on the one i sought, but opportunity has placed another possible 77 project knife in my hand.

Mine came in today. :)

As usual, Mike chose some absolutely phenomenal covers. I'm really enjoying the crimson sawcut! The pull on mine is a little soft, but not too bad. The snap could be better. Other than that everything either meets, or exceeds my expectations. Zero gaps. Perfect centering on both blades. All in all, it's a fantastic knife.

I am very pleased with the deep red coloring on this one. As many here know, it can be a bit of a gamble as to whether you'll get good dye saturation or not. In this instance, they done good...

The action on mine needs a good flushing but the pull and snap are per my expectations.

I do love my red sawcut.

I don't have a wealth of NF Barlows but I am supremely content with the ones I do have.

Decent color on these. Could be a little darker, but hey, it’s not pink. 😁 Of the three 77s I’ve got from this run (the other two being Ebony and Richlite), this is the only one without a mushy, snap-less blade, though the pull is a little on the weak side.

I do like the almost crimson color on some of these, including yours. I'd say mine is closer to a plum but it's still a nice dark red.
