Guarantee the reason for the staggered release is to get people to buy the MagnaCut ones now as a hedge against being unable to get the damascus ones later. Though in fairness the odds of getting the damascus ones at all is low...probably has to do with CRK’s production scheduling
I wonder if they increased their order of righty ones or if there are just fewer damascus.Confirmed with CRK that no lefty Damascus were ordered this year. Sucks to suck!
I don’t think so. There’s never much Damascus to begin with.Guarantee the reason for the staggered release is to get people to buy the MagnaCut ones now as a hedge against being unable to get the damascus ones later. Though in fairness the odds of getting the damascus ones at all is low...
Like I said, in fairness, they always sell out really quick, so there's not really a reason to juice sales at all, they always sell whatever they have. But I still think a lot of people will try for a plain and then try for the damascus when they come out who would have only tried for the damascus if they released at the same time.I don’t think so. Last year I got a small damascus. I started checkout about three seconds after the drop... and after watching spinning blue circles for various components of the web site, the order went through. Eleven minutes later. I could hardly believe it worked.Their site can't handle the amount of traffic they get for these annual releases. They dropped a couple minutes early and I was able to get both a large and a small, even with a snag of my CC company thinking someone was making a fraudulent transaction and having to check out again. I thought I was gonna get stuck without either, but somehow it went through according to the confirmation email. Good luck to everyone stuck in the traffic jam now.
I think I'm just hoping I'll get some good wood. Koa can vary pretty wildly.Shockingly the large is currently still available...I'm tempted to buy one just because I can, but I know I won't keep it and I've never been one to chase the annuals.

This is why I bought two. I'll probably keep whichever has the nicer inlay, regardless of size.I think I'm just hoping I'll get some good wood. Koa can vary pretty wildly.
Really hoping the photo they chose for the large wasn't the nicer wood for the larges. The wood on the small photo sample was nice.Yeah that's pretty apparent even in just the examples they chose for the photos of the small and large. I would think knowing the appeal of Koa is the beautiful figuration that CRK would have chosen some pretty pieces for the annuals but of course there will always be some that look nicer than others.
It's enough of a premium over a normal one that I passed, and it was a tough decision if I was going to go for a MagnaCut annual at all, given the pending damascus. This is why I bought two. I'll probably keep whichever has the nicer inlay, regardless of size.
