I’m very happy with these two new canoes. The action is a little better than on my older 2012 version. I’m also happy with the good dye jobs on both of these.

Mailman delivered early this mornig and this mini-Canoe fell out of our mailbox. Not bad. Overall it's ok but as others have reported, the pen blade tip rides proud of the frame. A few minutes on the Sharpmaker (take a little bit off the spine of the tip of the offending blade) and it'll be ready to pocket.

Oh yeah - forgot to say above that I call the Gec Canoe a "mini-Canoe" because when laid out by others (a Case in this example) it is quite small - shorter in closed length and narrower in the frame. Just my observation. It might not hold water with others.

The dyed giraffe bone SFO from TSA is quite nice.

Pretty happy with the Stag on this #16 Canoe. A pattern I was honestly going to skip but so happy I didn’t. It’s a great little knife with amazing action and the snap on the pen blade makes the best harmonic sound that I’ve ever heard on a GEC. Outstanding job, GEC!

That's an interesting approach to solving the issue. So far I only thought of filing down the kick. Thank you for sharing!

Personally, I would only file the kick because it’s not something that would be noticed. The kick area already looks pretty rough, so filing it doesn’t affect the aesthetic of the knife. However, filing the spine at the tip is going to make the blade shape look different and the spine area there is going to look different than the rest of the spine. I suppose you could smooth it out carefully to make it look seamless, but I’m not that skilled.

I don't use my method to avoid blade rap. The offending proud tip on these knives is minor although annoying. I dodn't use a file, rather a medium and fine stone. Not enough steel is taken away to noticeably change the blade profile.

The pen blade is so high up on these 16s that blade rap wouldn’t be a concern.

The stag on these look great on this run in fact all the natural handle materials look top shelf, which brings me to the question why more weren't made.
