2026 OKCA Show

The last table that wrecked my wallet was at cjm415 cjm415 table. Chris had some wonderful knives but it was him and Larry that made it easy to hang around. Had some great laughs and picked up some wonderful knives. I’m not usually a two blade trapper guy but I couldn’t pass up this shielded stag 48. The 85s have been on my list forever and I’m happy to scratch that itch.

I want to thank everyone for everything. This show is certainly a highlight of the year and hopefully for many years to come. I do hope that more Bladeforums members make the trek out West for the show next year.
Thanks for sharing your pics..👌

Thanks, Duncan! We flew back yesterday.

You were definitely missed, my friend. At one point Neal and I found ourselves talking about the paint on a car that drove by and we thought, man, where’s Duncan when you need him? 😉😁

Good stuff, Paul. I’d say you did a much better job of taking pics than I did! 😁

Dave’s display was fantastic! I nearly had to take this pic from the next row over. 🤣 (I did legitimately have to take it standing behind his and Dan’s table, almost backed up against Chris’ table, just to get the whole thing in one picture.)

Dave went above and beyond for the Schatt & Morgan display this year. It is so unbelievable that words cannot even describe it. The knives, the display, and the guy is there to tell you all about it! Thank goodness he won first place because otherwise we've never would have heard the end of it! Lol and his lobster dinner would have been ruined. Thank goodness it all worked out.!!

I’d also like to highlight @Rhidian for not only being a great guy but for his craftsmanship and dedication as a knife maker. His knives are truly special and it’s really cool to sit down and talk to him about what goes into a knife. He is so generous with his time and is always 100% engaged when talking to someone. He is one of the best knife makers in the world but more than that he is a good human being. Of course he cleaned up just about every folding knife award there was to include best in show.

You summed it up very well Paul. Having the table right next to Rhidian was great because not only did I get to spend time with him but I got to watch everybody come up and see his work and be thoroughly impressed. I think he's going to win an award for winning the most awards! Lol

How absolutely awesome seeing everyone!

What great knives you managed to pick up as well Paul- Oh man!!

Gracious gifts from gracious Gentlemen - this is good for the Soul seeing this.

The highlight was hearing that Dave won best display! WELL DONE DAVE!!!
I really want to see that collection in person, Dave's Charlie Campagna SFO display and the years and years of sweat 'n tears going into that was mind blowing to see in person, and to see the comradeship that went along with it.

Everyone is looking great!
Miss seeing you Duncan and you've got a year to consider popping in for the 50th show next year.
Take it easy and I know you were there in spirit!

We did see some old friends, and missed many others!!
Ray Rowe was here from Texas after missing all the shows since COVID!!
The "churchgoers" were back; Neal, Barrett, Paul etc rented that decommissioned chapel again, and we had Tacos and a knife pass-around there!!
I found myself looking for you and Abby - you were both missed!!!:(
Rhidian won three awards!! BEST Art Knife, Best Slipjoint, and Best of Show!!! Hopefully someone will post pics!!

Abby was really looking forward to going, and was planning on bringing her "Charlie" knives to show you. If the show had been today, I could have gone no problem, but this weekend I just wasn't up to anything. Sadly my wife has just come down with this herself, and we might have to cancel the trip we have planned this week :(

A couple weeks ago, Abby climbed up in a tree to take photos of this knife you gave her to show how it matched the sunset:

I snapped a photo of her shadowframe the other day because I loved seeing that she had her knife collection on display. And I was tickled that her "Charlie" knives are displayed in their GEC tubes. Poor girl never had a chance, she's been a knife knut since day one.

You are zinging my heartstrings, Daddy!! Raising kids can be a beautiful part of life!!
I have three, and 5 grands, and two great-grands!!! It's what we are here for!!!
That shadowframe is neat!!! (There is always a birthday coming up!!!) 😁

The first knife I bought at the Oregon show! A Higonokami usually has a folded metal handle, and a thumb tab to secure the blade when in use!! I have always been leery of those knives, feeling they are insecure, but then I saw this version!!!!!View attachment 3159322
It has a liner lock, which feels very solid and secure!!! Not to mention the attractive and functional san mai steel blade, and snakewood handles!!!!
Gorgeous, and not real expensive!! An improved Japanese Traditional!!
That was a very interesting and well made knife, Charlie. You opened that plastic wrapper like a kid after a Twinkie 😂😂.

Had a great time at the show, as always. Didn’t take nearly enough pictures (as always). In my defense, I was too busy looking at knives, talking about knives, buying knives, looking at more knives… 😁

It was great seeing everyone. Getting to visit with friends and talk knives in person is always the best part. I’m already looking forward to next year!

I’ll have to take some individual photos in the next few days, but here’s a quick pic of everything I got at the show. It was a good year!

Nice haul, Barrett!! I got to paw a few of those!!

It was nice that Dave won first prize for his S&M exhibit!! He'd been working hard for years!!!

Finally unpacking from the show, I found this "Bear" of a MOOSE tucked in my clothes!!! I bought it from Barry - Gunstock Jack - who has quite a nice collection of Black Box Winchesters!!! At 4 1/4", this is yet another example of Bill's handiwork, before he left Queen to form GEC!!!!Big Moose 2.jpgBig Moose 1.jpg
Just one of the many Knives you can find at the Oregon Show!!!!

I hope someone took a picture of Rhidian's Three Awards!! This humble knifemaker has virtually swept the Folder Awards for the last three years!!

It was so great to see Rhidian sweep those awards!!
Some of you may have noticed that they spelled Rhid's last name wrong!!!o_O Rest assured they are replacing the plaques for him!!!
His last name is Gatrill (no e)!!!

Pictures of Dave's Schatt & Morgan display have already been posted, but, I would like to add to them. Dave's knives are great, but, what really helps to make the display is the documentation of the history of the company and the ephemera to go along with it.
RIMG4178.JPG
Let's start with the large wooden display knife. There were only 5 or 6 or these made. Dave now owns one of them. His display included a picture of all the employees sitting in front of one of them.
RIMG4179.JPG
There was a case of knives from the short lived New York Cutlery Company, founded in Gowanda in 1895-1896. The company moved to Titusville in 1902, at which time it was incorporated as the Schatt & Morgan Cutlery Company.
RIMG4184.JPG

RIMG4189.JPGRIMG4188.JPG
The display case pictured below contains many interesting items. Schatt & Morgan only published two catalogues, No.1 and No. 2. Dave has original copies of both of them. His No. 1 catalogue is believed to be the personal copy of Charles B. Morgan. There is also a record book of all the official meetings of the officers, board of directors and stockholders of the company from December 9, 1902 through to August 1, 1932. Included is also a record book of employees dated 1912.
RIMG4264.JPG
There are also original pictures and miscellaneous ephemera scattered throughout the display. Below is an original picture of the company baseball team dated 1906.
RIMG4185.JPG
There were also two original counter felts, which the company gave to retailers to put on the counter during sales to keep the counter and the knives from getting scratched.
RIMG4265.JPG
I would also like to draw attention to the case containing the "ugly knives", a part of Schatt & Morgan history that many do not know about.
